Impress Nails

Hey guys - so the question is, am I impressed with Impress?  You'll have to read my 'My Thoughts' bit at the bottom to find out :)  Oh and before you wonder, I didn't do any pics of me wearing the nails because I have acrylics at the moment and have done for a couple of weeks :)

My Thoughts

As someone who has used stick on nails quite a bit, with the separate glue that you end up with all over your fingers etc I loved the idea of these, no glue needed!  At last!  You simply peel off the back and press them on, simples!  They're already painted and not too long, I did file mine back as they were a bit long for me (I don't like nails too long).

I'd bought them as we were going away for a few days (to a funeral), and my nails were horrendous, so I bought some purple ones and these black ones (don't worry I wore the purple ones to the funeral just in case you wondered) - they were really easy to apply, but, and it's a very big but, they didn't last any where near 7 days like they said, well it says 'up to 7 days'.  I know Sprinkle of Glitter loves them, and they last really well on her, so I'm guessing maybe it's because the shape of my nails, but I struggled to get them to last more than 24 hrs before coming off.  I applied them as they said, pressed down really hard, did all the bits I needed too, and even filed them back, but they just didn't last.  And at over £7 a pack, I was less than impressed <-- see what I did there?  :)

So in short, I wouldn't buy them again, I will use up the black ones at some point but as I have acrylics I'm in no rush to do that.

Have you used Impress?  Did you have the same experience as me?

MUA Lipstick Shade 13

Hey guys, I recently purchased a few bits from MUA online, and part of that was a bunch of lipsticks :)  So bit by bit I'll be reviewing them :)  The first of this series is the bright red colour, Shade 13.

My Thoughts

When I saw this shade in real life, I wasn't sure I'd like it, it was a bit bright for me!  However, once I'd put it on I loved it!  As most of their lipsticks are, they're very hydrating with amazing colour payoff, and if you can believe it, it's only £1!!!!  Such great value.  MUA just seem to keep knocking them out of the park, there's very little of theirs I don't like, their products seem to be continuously improving too :)  I love this lipstick and the colour was a pleasant surprise.

Feature - Tattooed Tea Lady

Hi everyone, my name is Sophia and I run a little blog called Tattooed Tealady. Georgina is a lovely girl who I have recently been talking to quite often on Twitter and she is just such a lovely blogging friend to have! So I am super excited to be here on her blog today doing a guest post. I hope you will all like it!

My top 5 favourite lipsticks

If there’s one makeup product I love, its lipsticks. They can really create a whole look and I just love adding to my ever growing collection. I have quite voluptuous lips so I like to wear shades which make them stand out, as well as shades which tone them down. My favourite shades to wear are nudes, corals and pink to reds.

MAC Honey Love / Revlon Rendezvous / Revlon Cherry Tart / Revlon Romantic / MAC Chatterbox
I can’t deny it, I am a sucker for a MAC lipstick and they are some of my very favourite, and most cherished, lipsticks in my collection. There’s just something about a MAC lipstick which makes me feel like it’s a really special lipstick. I think it’s the classic bullet design of their lipsticks. I particularly love their matte lipsticks. MAC Honey Love is a gorgeous matte nude shade which is perfect for using any time of day, with any outfit and any look. It just compliments everything so well and I love it. I love teaming it with MAC Hug Me, too. MAC Chatterbox has to be my all time favourite pink lipstick. It’s just the perfect matte pink and once I reach for time and time again.

If there is one brand I think has really out-done themselves this summer where lip products are concerned, it’s Revlon. With the release of the Revlon Lip Butters and the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stains, they have taken the blogosphere by storm. I really love both products and use them most days. They are just so versatile as well as super easy to apply and long lasting. I adore the Revlon JBKLBS in Rendezvous which is a perfect coral shade, and can be built up to be quite an eye-catching shade, as well as the shade Romantic, which I have fallen utterly, head over heels in love with. I have five shades from the Revlon Lip Butter range and I love them all but my favourite has to be Cherry Tart. It’s the perfect red. Unfortunately, this is an American only shade, and I was lucky enough to be sent it in a swap. But I know I’ll definitely be paying the extra cost to get this shipped over to me when this runs out! I love it!

MAC Honey Love / Revlon Rendezvous / Revlon Cherry Tart / Revlon Romantic / MAC Chatterbox
So those are my top five favourite lipsticks! I think there’s something here for everyone and these are shades I would happily wear all year round, not just in the summer. My favourite, favourite out of the five, is probably Romantic. Let me know if you own any of these, or what your favourite shades and lipsticks are, I’d love to hear! You can find me over on my blog which is Tattooed Tealady, as well as on Twitter @tattooedtealady, I’m always up for a natter! I hope you all liked my little guest post today! Thank you Georgina for letting me do this guest post on your blog!
Love, Sophia xo

(Thanks for doing this Sophia :)  It's a great post - you really can see the difference with the quality of the MAC lipsticks, might have to get me some)  :)  Pixi3

August Empties

Hey guys - I'll be doing an August Favourites post, but I also wanted to do an August Empties one, since I've never done one before :)  There's not much in it, and if I'm honest, some of these have been empty for about 6 weeks, so not all strictly August ;)  But I'm sure you won't mind that!

Lush Veganese and I love Juicy

I love both of these, they smell sooo good!  They smell really lemony and make your hair feel super soft and clean afterwards.  The conditioner Veganese has a very sea-weedy smell to it, but not in a yucky sea-weedy way, but in a nice seaside fresh way :)  You'll still be able to smell the lemon too :)  I've repurchased both of these, and I think each of them were just under £10, so not cheap, but hey, you get what you pay for :)

Lush Sweetie Pie

I seriously love this - it's a jelly!  A purple jelly at that!  A purple glitterly jelly at that!  OMG and it smells sooo good, really sweet :)  It's main scents are cherry and coconut - but if I hadn't read that off the front I wouldn't have known, I can't pick out those scents individually, but it just smells so good.  After you've had a shower with this, you'll smell amazing and want to jump straight back in to have another shower :)  Oh I nearly forgot to mention, it's a JELLY!  You can plop it out of the tub and smoosh it into your scrubber/buffer etc, or just rub the jelly straight onto your skin, whichever floats your boat :)  This I've repurchased too and costs around the £6 depending on what size you get.

Soap & Glory Hand Food

This was one of my first Soap & Glory purchases (I've since bought their anti-bac), I've kept it at my desk at work and put it on 2-3 times a day :)  The scent is lovely, just as I like it's very sweet, it leaves my hands feeling soft and hydrated and not greasy.  I can't remember how much it was, but I think it was probably around £5?  I'll have to grab myself another one to keep on the desk, but not sure whether to repurchase or try something different, any suggestions?

Have you used any of these before?  Did you like them?

How to create a Favicon for your blog

Hey guys, something I've noticed recently is how many bloggers don't have their own Favicon.  What is a Favicon I hear you say?  It's the little square box in the tab of your browser - most bloggers or at least a lot have the default blogger Favicon.

Makeup-Pixi3 Favicon

Blogger Favicon

Now, personally I often keep a couple of blogs on tabs pinned so they're always at the ready for me to look at :)  And, when they're all the default blogger icon, they're impossible to tell apart ;)  So here's a guide to help you make one :)

Favicons

You'll need an image editing piece of software to make one, paint would be ok - personally I use Illustrator, but you can also do it with PicMonkey.  For the sake of this tutorial, I'll use PicMonkey, as everyone has free access to that.

So, first go into create a collage.

Next, click on the arrangement of squares on the left, and click the top selection 'Create your own'

Then, go to the bit at the bottom where you can put your sizes in, in the first number field type 50 and press enter.  Both numbers will change to 70, but that's fine.

Then, click on the artist palette on the left, and go to the top row where it says 'spacing'.  Move the slider all the way to 0.

When you've done that, you'll have a little square.  Change it using the colours on the left, to the colour you want as the background.  Hit Save at the top and give it a name :)

Go back to the main page of the site, and this time click on 'Edit a photo'.

Next, click on the 'P' on the left, pick the font you want and click 'Add Text', click on the text to change it (keep it to 2 letters at most, preferably one) and change it to the size that fits the square best :)

Then save it (.jpg is preferable, but .gif is fine too), give it a name and make a note of where you've saved it.

Then head to blogger, go to the 'Layout' tab and click on Edit on the Favicon.

Click on 'choose file' and locate your saved file.

Click on the file, hit ok and save it.  That's it done!  Click 'view blog' and your Favicon should show :)  If it doesn't, press F5 to refresh the page and it should be there then :)  Feel free to mess around and make tiny pics, you don't have to do it how I've suggested :)

That's it, done!!!!  Hope you've found this tutorial useful, let me know if you have any questions :)

Monday Blogger Loves

Hello and happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone!  I loooove bank holidays, it's so nice staying up on the Sunday night, that's my fav, I even had an extra cup of tea last night - I know, hardcore! :D

Anyway, it's that time of the week again for my Monday Blogger Loves, and this week my friends, it features the lovely Sharna at My beauty and fashion fix.

I started following her when she launched her 300 follower giveaway (which I think still has a day or two left on it).  With Sharna, it's the little things I like, the attention to detail on her blog.  So things like putting a nice border on her pics on the blog - if she's not using CSS, she's probably using something like picmonkey, which can be a tedious task.  I like the design of her blog, it's simple, elegant and feminine without being overly girly.  Something I try for, and fail miserably!  You'd think as I'm a designer I could do better :p

She writes a really nice variety of posts too, lots of life blog posts too which I love as most of the bloggers I follow are mostly makeup - again, I'd like to do more life blog posts, but I can never think what to write them on :p  It's amazing to see how well she's done, to think only 3-4 weeks ago she was at 300 followers, and now she's well over 500, amazing and very well deserved :)  Theres one other thing... a thing that meant I'd instantly love her blog... polka dot background!  That's something I can relate to :)  Nice one Sharna, I love your blog, keep up the good work, and congratulations on how well it's doing :)

Jewellery Giveaway - CLOSED

Hey guys, here were are with ANOTHER international giveaway!!! Wooo!  I'll admit, I really love doing these :)  So, a bit of a story about these, I bought these from Little Nell Jewellery.  She was doing 'Lucky Bags' of 6 items for £10 - lots of those items had skulls etc which really excited me :D  But when they came, I wasn't lucky enough to have any skull stuff :(  So, I thought I'd use them for a giveaway instead, hoorah!  Here's the yummy pics and as usual Rafflecopter below on ways to enter :)

How to enter and the rules

As usual -the only rule is you HAVE to be a subscriber to my blog via Google Friend Connect.  As a disclaimer I'll say that I will be checking all entries to ensure you are actually subscribed, and if you're not, that entry will be removed.  Also, I'm not affiliated with this brand, I had purchased them for myself, but decided to do a giveaway with them instead.

As usual too, there are other ways to gain credits, like subscribing to me on YouTube, Twitter etc.  This will be open for 1 week, so the winner will be selected either next Sunday evening, or Monday.  Good luck everyone :)

Get Ready with Me #2

Hey guys - I know this is a bit cheeky, putting a video on my blog, but I thought you might enjoy it :)  It's another get ready with me video, so a sort of tutorial - I really enjoy doing these, the narration is my favourite bit, I can be a bit silly :p  Anyway, here it is, hope you like it :)

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette

Hey my lovelies!  So, I've been rumaging through my makeup bag/drawer recently and thought even though you can't buy this palette any more, you can buy all the individual colours so it's still worth swatching it all up for you :)  Here's the yummy pics :)

I'm going to be annoying and remind you about my giveaway too :)  Only a couple of days left!!!

The following swatches were all done by using my index finger to swipe over each shadow 3 times.  This was also without any primer.

Left Row (top to bottom)

Middle Row (top to bottom)

 Right Row (top to bottom)

All these colours are stunning - I love them all - even though I wouldn't necessarily wear all of them.  The only ones I have trouble wearing are Tainted, Junkshow and Omen - every time I wear pink eyeshadow I look like there's something wrong with my eye... I just can't carry it off, despite how pretty it is.  The only one I can get close to pulling off is Tainted - it has the most pretty golden glow/shimmer which the camera probably hasn't picked up.

Ace is an amazing colour, brilliant for making almost any colours smokey.  I believe you can buy all of these individually or as part of other palette's.

Most of the colours in this palette I'd re-purchase - I love it :)

What's your favourite Urban Decay shadow?

Maybelline Superstay 10 hr tint

Hey guys, yet another Maybelline post, damn you Sainsburys and your 3 for 2!  *shakes fist*

Bit of a funny story with this one, I was filming a youtube video of my haul where I bought a Maybelline Superstay 10 hr Tint and I thought, instead of swatching it on my hand, I'll put it on - to say I was surprised, would be underestimating it a little.  Basically in the shop, I'd swatched it, loved it.  Got it home and it seems someone had put one in the wrong place, so I'd picked up the wrong one, woops!  The one I ended up with was much darker than the one I thought I'd got, nevemind :p  The colour I ended up with I really like (Lasting Pink), so it's all good ;)  Here's the pics :)

My Thoughts

So despite picking the wrong colour, I really like it.  It lasts well, it has a nice consistency and an awesome scent, it's so fruity!  It applies really easily too with the funky shaped wand.  As for negatives, I don't particularly like the taste, and the colour does tend to cling to any dry skin you have on your lips.  But I really like it - this, I would re-purchase - and even though I picked up the wrong colour, I'm kinda glad I did because it's a lush colour :)

Friend Swaps Number 7

Hey everyone, welcome to the currently last in the series of 'Friend Swaps', this is number 7 and until I do another swap with her, this will be the last for a while :(  I've really enjoyed doing this series, I hope you've enjoyed reading them :)

Without further ado, I give you Collection Glam Glitters.

My Thoughts

So, these sticks are double ended.  One end has a 'coloured' gel - when you apply it there's pretty much no colour in it... then you take the other end (glitter end) and smush (yes, that's a word) the glitter on to the gel.  As much as these look super pretty, they're really impractical.  I tried to wear the black one last night, I put the gel on, then the glitter.  Sadly the glitter didn't stick to the gel and it only suceeded to take off some of the eye shadow I'd spent half an hour trying to perfect.  Also, more glitter will go all over you, the floor, the cat, the table, the desk etc than on to your eyelid - each time you pull the applicator out of the tube, a metric tonne of glitter falls out all over whatever is underneath it... Not something I would purchase and probably not something I'll ever use again.  Sorry for the negative review... plus side, it looks super pretty when swatched :D

Also the good news is that they no longer make these, you can still find them on ebay and such, but they've discontinued them :)

Have you used these before and had a similar experience?
