Friend Swaps Number 7

Hey everyone, welcome to the currently last in the series of 'Friend Swaps', this is number 7 and until I do another swap with her, this will be the last for a while :(  I've really enjoyed doing this series, I hope you've enjoyed reading them :)

Without further ado, I give you Collection Glam Glitters.

My Thoughts

So, these sticks are double ended.  One end has a 'coloured' gel - when you apply it there's pretty much no colour in it... then you take the other end (glitter end) and smush (yes, that's a word) the glitter on to the gel.  As much as these look super pretty, they're really impractical.  I tried to wear the black one last night, I put the gel on, then the glitter.  Sadly the glitter didn't stick to the gel and it only suceeded to take off some of the eye shadow I'd spent half an hour trying to perfect.  Also, more glitter will go all over you, the floor, the cat, the table, the desk etc than on to your eyelid - each time you pull the applicator out of the tube, a metric tonne of glitter falls out all over whatever is underneath it... Not something I would purchase and probably not something I'll ever use again.  Sorry for the negative review... plus side, it looks super pretty when swatched :D

Also the good news is that they no longer make these, you can still find them on ebay and such, but they've discontinued them :)

Have you used these before and had a similar experience?

Friend Swaps Number 6

Hey everyone!  So, this is number 6 in the 'Friend Swaps' series.  For the moment this is the penultimate one in the series, however I'm sure that in 6 months - 1 year we'll have done more swaps and I'll pick up where I left off then :)

So today, I give you the Natural Collection single eye shadow in the colour Midnight.

I'll be honest, this colour I could take or leave.  It's not quite black enough for me, if I'm going for a black, I want it to be a deep dark black.  However, if you're looking for an easy matte black to give a smokey effect, if you do quite a bit of blending with this it'll give a lovely smokey effect.  It's just a bit 'meh' for me... nothing about it grabs my attention.  It doesn't have glitter, a shimmer or anything like that - I like matte colours, but in actual colours and not black.  They only cost £1.79, so if you get one and you don't like it, you haven't wasted a whole lot of moolah!  That's just my thoughts anyway.

What do you think of Natural Collection eye shadows?

Friend Swaps Number 5

Hey everyone!  Welcome to 'Friend Swaps' number 5 :)

Have you ever heard of the cosmetic brand called GOSH?  I have, but I've never tried them.  Luckily my friend gave me a little shadow pot of theirs, yay!

At first I thought this was a jet black shadow, but it's got little silver glittery bits in it too, yay!  If you're going for a dramatic look, smokey eye etc, this is perfect for smoking it out.  It's a loose powder so as usual expect a lot of fall out but that can easily be cleaned up with a bit of concealer.  Also as I said in my previous 'Friend Swap' post, this is without eye shadow primer.  So, if you use primer, the colour will be even better :)

What do you think about GOSH cosmetics? What have you tried of theirs?

Friend Swaps Number 4

Hey everyone and welcome to 'Friend Swaps Number 4'!  Today is all about Barry M and their wonderful Dazzle dusts, I have a couple of these now and love them!  So this one my friend gave me as it's not a colour she would generally wear - she's more into dark colours, whereas I'll wear them all pretty much :)

The Barry M Dazzle Dust she gave me is a beautiful light shimmery purple (my favourite colour!).  These cost £4.59 each and come in a massive range of colours, I mean, like over 50... pretty decent!  I did already have one, which was actually given to me by another friend, that's a deep purple - both I love!

*without primer*

As you can see this is a super pretty colour, they're all really well pigmented and the colour lasts really well.  It's worth mentioning that when I do all my swatching for my blog/youtube, I never use a primer on them first, so assuming you all use primers (most people I know do), then the colours will be a lot more vibrant.

What's your favourite Barry M Dazzle Dust?

Friend Swaps Number 3

Hey everyone!  Aaand as you'll have guessed from the title, this is my 3rd part of my 'Friend Swaps' series.  Hope you're all well today?  It's been raining all day here :(

So today is all about Collection (prev Collection 2000) Dazzle Me in the colour Magical (2).  Personally this isn't a shade I would wear on my lid, but I would use it as a highlight on my cheek bones if I was going out for an evening and wanted a bit of extra sparkle :)  It's such a pretty colour, you could use it for under the browbone too if you're going for a very light look with your eyeshadow too, and for the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them.

As you can see it's a shimmer with a portion of gold in it, which is super pretty, it would look lovely on darker skin tones as well as light.

Have you used this before?  Did you wear it as a shadow or highlight?

Friend Swaps Number 1

Hey everyone!  So, I have a friend who's also into Makeup, yay!  And we've started doing a bit of swapping, where I have stuff I don't like I give it to her and vice versa.  Over the next few weeks I'm going to do a series of blog post of all the lovely goodies I've had and tried :)

Today is the first in that series, and it's the Bourjois eye shadow single in the shade 92 Gris Paillettes.

Amongst other colours, I wore this last night and really loved it :)  There's quite a bit of fall out from the glitter, but that's to be expected.  Now, the swatches don't do it justice, there was a lot more colour and intensity on my index finger (from swatching it) than transferred onto the back of my hand.

It's quite a dry formula as opposed to creamy, but I think a lot of that is to do with the glitter.  In my limited experience with Bourjois eye shadow singles and blushers I've found them to be a drier formulation.

I really like it and would definitely wear it again, perfect for a sparkly smokey eye :)

Have you tried the Bourjois single eyeshadows?  Which is your favourite colour?

Friend Swaps Number 2

Hello everyone!  So this is my 2nd Friend Swap, and another Bourjois item :)

I love this item, I love the colours!  Teal, I love teal!!!  Such a beautiful colour - anyway, on with the swatches :)  This is in number 16 Crazy Baby from their 'Petit Guide de Style'

I love the ideas they give you in these little sets, like with the teal colour underneath as a lower lash liner, I love it!  I'm not sure I could get away with the white on my entire lid though, but it's a beautiful colour to highlight under the browbone.  I did wear this the first day she gave it to me, and the teal really is stunning.  It lasted all day, really well and really was such a pretty colour.

From what I can tell this was limited edition, there's no mention of it on their website any more so I don't think you can still get it.  But brands always bring out things like this, so if you keep your eyes peeled I'm sure that they'll do something like this again in the future.

How do you find Teal best to wear?
