Makeup Revolution Atomic lipsticks

Makeup Revolution Atomic lipsticks

Makeup revolution Atomic lipstick collection

Makeup Revolution Atomic lipsticks
L-R: Atomic Lipstick Ruby, Atomic Lipstick Make Me Tonight, Atomic Lipstick Make It Right, Atomic Lipstick Magnificent, Atomic Lipstick Serpent.

Today there's more new releases from the force that is Makeup Revolution!  These are perfectly timed for Halloween too - in case you're looking for some deep dark lipsticks to go with your outfit!

Each of these will set you back £1, so you could have the whole Atomic collection for £5!  Yes, some of the colours are a little out there, not shades I'd wear day in day out, however, the red is gorgeous and very wearable as well as massively pigmented - just look at that colour payoff!

Nostalgia time - back in the day, in the late 90s I used to wear a lot of proper purple lipstick, in fact it had a holographic sheen to it (looking back, it wasn't a good look), I'd team it up with a purple dress and hit the local night club (I was 18/19)... sadly, I don't have a picture to hand to show you, it's back at home, but trust me when I say it was a popular look at the time, maybe not so much now :P

*If* I get time, I'll try and do a Halloween makeup look before the big day and use one of these shades, I'll have to get my creative thinking cap on ;)

Makeup Revolution The One blush stick
L-R: Malibu, Dream, Rush, Pink

Makeup Revolution The One matte blush stick
L-R: Matte Malibu, Matte Dream, Matte Rush, Matte Pink

I love a new launch as much as the next person, but when it involves blushers, and potential dupes, I get even more excited!

This little parcel of new Makeup Revolution goodies landed on my door step a few days ago.  I saw quite a few bloggers Instagramming pictures of these and swatches, and many have likened them to the NARS Multiple as these are for the cheeks and lips too.  I haven't used the NARS Multiple so I can't compare, but many seem to think they're comparable :)

All in all there are 4 different shades, both available in matte and shimmer.  The packaging for each relates to the product inside - so the matte ones are in a matte box, and a matte finish tube - similarly, the shimmery ones are in a glossy finish box and tube.

The shimmery ones include a bronzer (malibu), a shade that doubles as a highlighter (dream), a pinky/coral shade (rush) and a bright pink shade (pink).  The matte ones have much greater pigmentation than the shimmery ones which tend to be a tad more sheer.  If you are using the matte ones, you'll only need to use a tiny amount as a little goes a long way.

Each one retails for £5 each and can be used either wet or dry - using it dry will give the most pigmentation, but if you use it wet you'll get a more sheer effect, nifty!

Thank you & announcement

Squidge week 1

I just want to say thank you to all the lovely guest posters who have helped me out over the last week by guest posting on my blog while I was in hospital being induced and becoming a mummy - they all did it at very short notice (less than 48 hours) and produced a fabulous range of posts from recipes, to autumn themed posts.

It's been the most emotional week of my life and the one with the most physical pain.  If you're interested in reading my birth story, I'll be posting it over on my mummy blog in the next few days, in the meantime I'm also posting about the issues I've had with breastfeeding (it's not the idyllic picture I had imagined) and other aspects of parenting as I discover and hopefully overcome then. More importantly, there'll be a LOT of pictures of Squidge - and on my Instagram :)

Thank you all for your patience and I'll be back to normal beauty blogging soon, just as soon as I settle into a bit of a routine.

Guest Post | Autumn High Street Makeup Picks

Hello! My name's Hannah and I blog over at Midnight Violets. Whilst Georgina is taking a break from the blogging, with the baby (Congratulations!) I agreed to write a post for all you lovely people to help keep her blog going. For me it's all about highstreet make-up and finding the hidden gems at bargain prices! Considering my love of all things bargainous  and the current season, it only seemed appropriate to share the perfect additions to your autumn makeup bag.

Autumn high street makeup picks

Face
For me, the autumn months are all about moving away from shine control, instead opting for something more dewy and giving a fuller coverage. Lately I've been loving the Max Factor CC Cream in Light (£9.99), it has a lovely slightly dewy finish, good coverage and is a brilliant match for my pale skin. For the cheeks I'm all over the berry and plum blushes - I could write a whole post about the Autumn blushes I love! My all time favourite though is ELF's Studio Blush in Blushing Rose (£3.95), it mixes a beautiful glow with the shade of naturally flushed cheeks.

Eyes
When it comes to eyes I'm all about something a littler darker and smokier as soon as it starts getting colder. This year we're being told it's all about jewel tones - I can't deny they're beautiful! The SEVENTEEN Starry Eyes Trio in Neptune (£4.99) is just the thing. As well as being pigmented it has some beautiful shades - purple, khaki and gold. If cream eyeshadow is more your thing I'd highly recommend the ELF Long-lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Gala (£3.95). Aside from being a mouthful it's the most beautiful mahogany shade you ever did see, full of shimmer and perfect for parties!

Lips
When it comes to lips I have three go to's - the tinted balm, the nude colour and the red/berry shade. For tinted balms you can't get much better than Sleek Pout Polishes (£4.49), their pigmented, glossy and hydrating - just what you need with the current chill in the air! My favourite is 'Perfect Plum'- I'll let the swatches do the talking! For nude lips I currently obsessed with the Essence XXXL Long lasting Matte Lipgloss in 06 Soft Nude (£2.30), on my skintone at least it's the perfect brown toned rose shade, a little deeper for autumn too! Finally, if you're after a red lip I would highly recommend the new BarryM Lip Stain Paint in Absolute Burgundy (£4.49), creamy, rich and long lasting!

Thank you so much Hannah such a great post and pictures :)  Don't forget to head over to her blog - she has great posts on budget high street makeup :)

Guest Post | Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Hey Guys,

So Georgina has gone to have her baby (so happy for her!) and I'm today's guest blogger! I'm Laura from LauraHadley.co.uk, huge beauty and fashion lover with an obsession with buying things from Cohorted.co.uk.

Urban Decay Perversion mascara

Last week, I was doing my usual cup of tea and sitting at my laptop at 6pm, waiting to see which beauty products were going to be on the latest cohorts.  I saw that Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara and Subversion Eye Primer had a discount and had to buy it. I saw years back, a lot of drugstore beauty brands had eye primers, or just simply white mascaras, to go under black mascara to make your eyelashes stand out more, without the clumps. I knew Urban Decay's mascara was going to be amazing due to the thick brush, so it's win-win to have my eyelashes looking thick, long and black, without looking like spiders legs.

Perversion mascara wand

After applying the primer, my eyelashes just looked a tiny bit lighter, as I have really blonde natural lashes. I let it set in a little, then applied the Perversion mascara. After 1 coat (yes, just one!) my eyelashes looked long and full, like I had an extra set of thin false eyelashes on. To me, this is how eyelashes should be. I don't tend to wear "no makeup - makeup" looks as I want to feel like I have it on, and its obvious, but not like I'm about to go out on the town. I like my eyelashes to be full as my eyes are my best feature, I think.

Usually, I'll apply a few coats of mascara, to get the desired look, but with this I only need one. That means more for your money, in terms of how long my mascara will last. Plus with the discount from Cohorted, my bank barely noticed that I had spent money! If you're looking for a semi-expensive mascara that is worth the money, go to your nearest UD and ask about this, because I will definitely be repurchasing this.

Thank you again Georgina and the best of luck with having your baby! So excited for her, as should all of you! If you want to have a nose at my blog, head over to LauraHadley.co.uk or @laurahadleyx on twitter.

Thank you so much Laura for this lovely post - I might have to get this and try it out!  I used to love the UD Skyscraper mascara, an old fav :)  Make sure you head over and check out her fab blog :D

Guest Post | Butterscotch Brownies

Butterscotch brownies

Hi I’m Lisa from Lisahh-Jayne and I’m happy to be guest posting for Georgina while she’s away having little Squidge – how exciting! Since Great British Bake Off has been back on our screens I’ve been trying to channel my inner Mary Berry in the kitchen. Sadly I’m not very good at making show stopper cakes, but I am quite good at making brownies. So I thought I’d share with you all my favourite, super simple, recipe for butterscotch brownies.

What you’ll need is:
175g Dark brown soft sugar
75g Melted butter
1 Egg beaten
150g Self Raising Flour
½ Teaspoon salt
½ Teaspoon Vanilla Essence
50g Chocolate chips (Optional)

How to make these delicious brownies:
Start by preheating your oven to Gas Mark 4/180C/330F
Put the sugar and butter in a bowl and mix together
Add in the beaten egg, flour, salt and vanilla essence and beat together
Stir in your chocolate chips
Pour into a square tin and cook for 20 minutes

They’re just that simple to make! And of course super delicious!
Will you be trying out this recipe and making these? Let me know if you do!

Thanks Lisa, how amazing do these brownies sound!?  I'm definitely going to give these a go once we've settled in with Squidge :)  Don't forget to head over and check out Lisa's blog and say Hi :)

Guest Post | The Perfect Autumn Lipstick

Hello! Whilst Georgina is away having her baby you are all unfortunately stuck with me for the day, I'm Shona from Shona Louise. I thought I'd tell you all about my favourite lipstick as it happens to be perfect for this time of year. I won't take up too much of your time but if you do like this post I'd love for you to take a look at my blog, you'll see that I mention this lipstick a lot on it!

MAC lipstick

When I first started beauty blogging almost 3 years ago now MAC products were just as popular as they are now but I really wasn't that interested if I'm honest. It has only been in the past year that I've really started to enjoy trying a few products from the brand, mainly their lipsticks though. Everyone raves about them and I really did not think they would live up to the hype but I've found one that is everything that I had hoped for and more. If you are already a reader of my blog then you'll know that I'm a fan of natural makeup, I hardly ever wear bold lip colours which is why I am so surprised by how much I adore this lipstick. This MAC lipstick in Syrup isn't as bold as something like Heroine or Rebel but it is certainly out of my comfort zone of muted pinks.

MAC lipstick in syrup swatch

It's a lustre finish so you can wear it quite sheer or you can build it up to a more solid colour which is what I usually prefer to do. The formula is soft and it feels moisturising on your lips, ideal for the cold weather which is just around the corner I'm sure. The glossy finish does mean that it doesn't last as long as other MAC lipsticks and it always comes off when eating but it still does last a good few hours before you need to reapply. I personally don't have a problem with regularly reapplying lipstick so the staying time of one doesn't bother me too much as long as it lasts at least a couple of hours, of course everyone is different though.

MAC lipstick in Syrup on the lips

The colour that it produces on your lips is just beautiful in my opinion, the perfect shade for Autumn and Winter. It has lots of pink tones in it but the purple side of it shines through just enough to make it that little bit different. I think this is a really good shade for people who, like me, want to step out of their comfort zone a little but don't feel like reaching for something like MAC's lipstick in Rebel first. I do think MAC's products are overpriced but this is one lipstick that I'll definitely be buying over and over again regardless of the price tag!

Thank you Georgina for letting me guest post for you! If you liked reading this post I'd love for you to read some more of mine on my blog, Shona Louise.

Guest Post | The Autumn Beauty Edit

Hello everyone, I'm Jasmine and I blog over at Magpie Jasmine, I'm doing a guest post whist Georgina is off to have her baby (best of luck!)

Autumn makeup picks

It's officially Autumn, but that doesn't have to mean 'boring' in terms of colours! I've picked out some beauty bits for all budgets that I think will be perfect for the season of gold, brown and red leaves...

Berry swatches eyeshadow and blusher
L-R: Demerara is a lovely peach, Muscovado is a brown-red with golden shimmer and Turbinado is a beautiful berry.') it's Demerara (Sugar palette), Muscovado (Sugar palette), Turbinado (Sugar palette), Essence Hot Scorch, MAC Chili, Revlon Black Cherry, MAC Paramount, Universal (Flawless palette) and Gold Digger (Flawless palette)

I'm a big fan of the Sleek Blush By 3 palettes and I think Sugar (£9.99) is perfect for this season! Turbinado is a beautiful berry, Muscovado is a brown-red with golden shimmer and Demerara is a lovely peach.

I love the Essence Long-Lasting Eye Pencil in 19 Hot Scorch (£1.50), which is a lovely dark bronze shimmer I use as an eyeliner.

Recently I've been loving my MAC Matte Lipstick in Chili (£15.50). I think this is lovely for Autumn as its has definite terracotta undertones and is really flattering if you have yellow undertones and don't usually suit conventional reds.

Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry (£7.49) isn't for the faint-hearted but if you love dark lips for Autumn/Winter this is the perfect high street buy.

Another dark MAC Lipstick is Paramount (£15.50). The chocolate-y brown shade is perfect for this season and the Satin finish is that bit more moisturising than a matte whilst still giving a similar look.

I'm totally obsessed with my Makeup Revolution Ultra 32-Shade Eyeshadow Palette in Flawless (£8)! It has just about everything you need for a neutral look both for day and night this Autumn. Here I've swatched the shades Universal, a dark mauve-pink shimmer, and Gold Digger, an amber-toned gold shimmer.

berry swatches
L-R: Babylon (Heaven and Earth palette), Valley (Heaven and Earth palette), elf Copper, elf Toast, Maybelline On and On Bronze and Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate

Another budget favourite of mine is MUA's Heaven and Earth 12-Shade Eyeshadow Palette (£4). It contains 12 earthy shimmer shades, both warm and cool toned. I've swatched Babylon, which is an antique gold, and Valley, which is a deep plum.

The e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner (£3.95) is incredible value and so long lasting. I love the shade Copper for a soft brown autumnal look.

Another steal from them is the e.l.f. Studio Long-Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Toast (£3.95), a stunning gold. You can wear this as a base or on its own.

The Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows (£4.99 each) are perfect if you don't have much time and want to look like you made a lot more effort than you did! One swipe and you have a lovely opaque colour that will last you all day. I especially Like On and On Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate this season.

I hope this post has helped you get some makeup ideas for Autumn :) and you can follow me on Twitter @jasmineacs

Guest Post | Halloween Yankee Candle wish list

Hi everyone, my name is Rachel and I blog over at Beautyqueenuk and today I am honoured to be guest-posting for the fantastic Georgina here at Makeup-Pixi3, who by now is quite possibly the mummy to her new baby boy. Georgina's blog is one that I personally have learnt alot from, especially Google Analytics and SEO tips, if you haven't read any of her guides on these, then do, you can find them on the right hand side of this blog!

yankee candle halloween wishlist

Today I thought I would bring a Halloween theme to Makeup-Pixi3 with my Yankee Candle wishlist. I absolutely love Halloween, I just we celebrated the event as well as some of my American friends who decorate their houses and have amazing parties. As a child I used to love Trick or Treating, the joy of getting buckets full of sweets was amazing, it is a wonder how I still have a mouth full of my own teeth with no fillings whatsoever.

With Halloween comes a lot of limited edition products from some of my favourite brands and one of those is Yankee Candle who have some of the most amazingly decorated jars I have ever seen and with a wishlist as long as my arm, these are just a few of my favourites:

1 Halloween Cat Candle Shade - I absolutely love this and it has been on my eBay wishlist for a long time, though sadly it never seems to be available here in the UK. I love cats, have three of them myself and this candle shade is simply amazing.

2 - Ghostly Treats has the scent of gooey marshmallows, imagine them after roasting on an open fire - that scent!

3 - Happy Halloween Candle which uses a potion of black liquorice spiced with anise and cloves

4 - Candy Corn - The familiar, sweet scent is a fond reminder of Halloween fun and treats.

5 - Witches Brew which is said to be a spicy sweet aroma of exotic patchouli

6 - All Hallows Eve has a mixture of Midnight Jasmine and Evening Air

I love how each one of these jars has its own little theme and how decorative they are, each one of them is designed specifically with Halloween in mind, right down to the actual scent. Even after using them all up, they would look great as storage jars!

Those are just some of the candles I am wanting to get my hands on.  Do you have a favourite Halloween decoration?

Thank you so much Rachel and for your kind words :)  I loved this post!  Be sure to head over to her blog and say 'Hi', I'm sure you'll love what you read :)

Guest post | Tips for a perfect manicure

Essentials for a manicure

Hey! I'm Catherine and I'm from Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, thank you Georgina for letting me write on your great blog! So exciting and I wish Georgina and Squidge well :)

A couple of years ago I started painting my nails every night, I became obsessed with the perfect manicure and having the perfect nails.  Since then I've got my manicure system down to a T!

Step 1 - Remove Old Polish

I haven't pictured a nail polish remover, but its very important to soak a cotton pad in nail polish remover hold it against your nail for anything up to a minute then wipe away. This makes sure your nails are clean of all polish! Of course you could use nail polish remover pots or wipes too.

Step 2 - Cut and Shape

Next step is to make sure your nails are a neat even length and shape.  I do it, my nails grow long and I don't want to cut them but they start breaking and looking awful.  So clip your nails down to an even length, then shape them with a good nail file.  As for shape it depends on what you like - I like square, but it depends on what suits you.

Step 3 - Cuticles

Next step is to attack those cuticles! Start off by applying a cuticle remover, I use the Essence 15 second cuticle remover, however there is also a Sally Hansen one I know is popular.  Leave it for about 2 minutes or so then push your cuticles back using an orange stick.  Then using cuticle clippers, clip away the skin tags etc around your nails, do NOT cut your cuticles!  Just the annoying skin tags etc.

Step 4 - Paint & Treat

Next step is the best bit!  Start of by painting your nails with a treatment base coat, at the moment I'm using something my mum had but there's many out there, anything that helps treat your nail problem whether that is peeling, breaking, bending, weak etc.  Next up is the first coat of colour, then the second coat.  The best way I find for painting my nails is thinking 3 strokes per nail, 4 for the thumbs. Leaving gaps at the cuticles and the edges. Then apply a top coat if your nail polish needs it.  If you want to speed up the drying time a good step is drying drops, my personal favourites being Bourjois.

Step 5 - The Pampering Steps

Once your nails are dry, I pop on a drop of nail & cuticle oil to each nail, I use the essence cuticle care oil, but the Nails inc one and the Superdrug own ones are also good.  I then gently massage this in.  Finally I use a hand cream, my current favourite is Neals Yard Remedies orange and geranium hand cream.

And there you go - following these steps gets me the best manicure I've managed.  I hope these steps help you too, and thank you again too Georgina for letting me guest post!

Catherine x

A big thank you to Catherine - I hope you find her tips for a great manicure helpful and don't forget to head over to her blog to take a peek :)

Guest Post | 3 Plum Lips

Hello, my name is Helen and I blog over at HelenRamblesOn. Thank you to Georgina for letting me do this guest post on her lovely blog. Today I thought I would share my three favourite plum lip products. The minute Autumn comes around the coral lips products go away for a few months and the plum shades come out.

3 plum lips

3 plum lipsticks

The first lipstick I have to share was a staple for me last year; the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Glam Plum Fulham. I love the formula of this one, it has just the right amount of creaminess to it so it feels lovely on the lips. I don't find the colour blends and it stays put for a good few hours. This shade is more on the berry side rather than the purple and can be worn more sheer.

The next one is my newest addition and probably the boldest of the bunch; MAC Amplified Lipstick in Rebel. This formula is very pigmented and is the perfect vampy lipstick. Definitely not for the faint hearted but it looks amazing on the lips and when worn with a simple smokey eye looks amazing.

Finally my old favourite, the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush. This is the longest wearing out of the bunch; the crayon style packaging makes it super easy to apply, it doesn't feel drying on the lips and adds the perfect berry stain to the lips.

3 plum lipsticks open

I own a fair few plum lip products as they are one of my favourite shades to wear but these 3 are definitely going to be my most reached for this season. What are some of your favourite plum lip products to wear this time of year?

Thank you Helen for guest posting for me today - be sure to check out her blog a

Mini update

baby squidge

Hello my lovelies!  So today is a big day for me, I'll (hopefully) be heading to the hospital to be induced today!  I do need to call this morning to make sure they have a bed, so fingers crossed they do.  Either me or the hubby (on my Twitter account) will be doing updates using the hashtag #squidgewatch if you want to see how my progress is going - but it's likely to be long, I'm not expecting for Squidge to make an appearance until Monday (maybe later) - and I probably won't be replying to the 'any news' tweets or messages - but I'll keep my progress updated as much as I can :)

While I'm in labour, and for a while after while I'm settling in with Squidge, I'm having a range of bloggers guest post on here each day - so please enjoy those posts and head over to have a look at their blogs, hopefully you'll discover some new and great places for beauty reviews :)

If you're interested in following my pregnancy story and adventure into motherhood - head over to my mummy blog - I post regularly on there and would appreciate your support :)
