Revlon Colorstay Gel Eyeliner

Hi guys!  I'll be honest, I've had this for a few weeks now, and I've been putting off wearing it because I don't often get on with gel eyeliners as they usually transfer onto my eyelid, the question is, did this one?  Have a read below to find out :)

Revlon Colorstay Gel Eyeliner £7.99* - available in Tesco and other stores

They say "The Revlon Colorstay Crème Gel Eyeliner comes in a classic black colour. Revlon’s formula ensures that you will not have to deal with smudging any longer and the bold colour will last up to 24 hours. Simply glide the brush delicately over the lash line, as thick or as thin as you’d like, and enjoy the results!"

My Thoughts

So did it transfer onto my eyelid?  Quite simply, no.  And for that, I'm really impressed with it.  Every other gel liner I've tried has always melted onto my lid, but this one doesn't... not even after 12 hours, which is really impressive.  My one irritation with gel liners is that you have to clean the brush straight away otherwise it turns hard and is a nightmare to clean the next time before you use it.  I was so skeptical about this, but was so pleasantly surprised, this is becoming a part of my makeup routine now, and I never thought I'd say that about a gel liner!

I'm not sure if it'll last the 24 hrs they claim, I find that with most things that make grand claims like that, they never last as long... but I can get a good 12 hours out of it, which is pretty good by my standards :)  Sorry this has been a fairly quick review, but I don't really have a lot to say about it.  It's good, I like it, yes I'd buy it again.  There's not a whole lot else to say :p

Have you tried this yet?  Did it last well on you?

Saffron London

Hey Pixi3's!  A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a giveaway of 2 eye shadow palettes from Glitter the Rose, I won an MUA one, and this one, whoop whoop!

I'll be honest, I hadn't paid this Saffron one much attention, until now.

saffron eye shadow palette

This palette doesn't have a name from what I can tell, it's just a green one :)

inside the palette
I love that their products aren't tested on animals, always a big plus in my books.  As you can see, the colours range from white to lime green and then through more mossy greens to a green/brown.  Great colours, personally I love wearing green eyeshadow's, especially deep mossy ones, not sure sure about the lime one (for me) but the others are lovely.

saffron palette swatched on my arm with the actual palette

My Thoughts

The shadows feel very densely packed (unlike MUA palettes where the shadows tend to feel fairly loose - that's not necessarily a bad thing).  The pigmentation is fantastic, I swatched each of these shades with ease.  Each shadow has a bit of a gold shimmer to it, which goes beautifully with the green but it would have been nice to see something a little different too.  I couldn't find any mention of a price on their website, but I was under the impression they're in the same price range as the MUA palettes.  I'm not so keen on the packaging, I think it cheapens the product which is a shame as they have such a good range.

As for the texture, it's a bit strange... there's like, little fibres in it, almost like cotton wool which I don't like.  They're not the easiest to blend either... I feel very mixed about these.  On one hand, the colours are amazing, but on the other hand, the quality just isn't there.  I think, these days it's pretty easy for brands to make pigmented eye shadows, where the challenge is, is in making the quality of the product be great.  For a lot of brands that's the sink or swim, and I think here Saffron have sunk :(

Have you ever tried any of their products before?  Did you like them?

MeMeMe Dew Pot

Hello lovelies :)  I have a lovely post for you today, I say lovely, because I really like the product, and I love the name, it sounds so sweet don't you think?

So ladies (and gents?) I give you, the MeMeMe Dew Pots.

Very cute packaging!  I really like the MeMeMe branding... I can't quite put my finger on whether to consider them 'high street'... their quality, design and price puts them at the top end of high street (or drugstore depending on where you're reading this).

Their Thoughts

So, here's what they claim:  "High performance, ultra long-stay rich colour eye defining cream in 8 opulent shades to add an on-trend splash of colour to your look this season. Use alone for colour blocking or blend multiple shades together for ultimate impact"

My Thoughts

I really really like it :)  I was a bit apprehensive first of all as it's very soft, but it sets really well so I was pleasantly surprised.  It's a really pretty colour, I think I picked the right one (Willow Whisper).  As for how well it lasts, if I put a matching powder over the top I can get a good 5-8 hours out of it which is pretty decent.  It has a lovely shimmer to it and on the back of this one being so nice, I'm tempted to try some of the others like Coral Blossom and Woodland Truffle - they sound yummy!

As for negatives, the only real negative I have is the size of the pot.  It's not the lack of product, but the ability to get product out of there easily.  If you have long nails you won't be able to delve it out with your finger, which I think is how a lot of people use creme shadows.  So really you need to use a brush with this, which isn't the end of the world, just means you need to clean your brush straight afterwards :)  It's £7.25 too - compare that to the Maybelline colour tattoos which have more product and are cheaper... nah I'd still buy a Dew pot - they're lovely, great packaging, good product :)

Fashionista custom palette

Hey guys!  How's your day going today?  So today's post is all about the FashionistA custom palette (by the way people who work at FashionistA if you're reading this, you really need to get a proper website:) ).

I first saw these in Superdrug months ago and was quite intrigued, I thought it was nice to a budget brand doing something different.  I actually gave away a FashionistA single eyeshadow in my first giveaway, it was a really pretty lilac shade (I was so tempted to keep it for me :p).  Well months have passed, and now I have my own palette and some beautiful shades to put in it :)

Oooh pretty arrangement :)

FashionistA custom design palette each shadow/blush etc is £4* each

Wearing the blusher and eyeshadow :)

My Thoughts

Of these four, the blusher is my favourite, it's a beautiful coral colour, something I've been looking for in a blusher for a long time, and now I have it, yay :)  The shadow is lovely too, it has a beautiful shimmer as do most of their 'baked' products.  I don't tend to use bronzer every day, it depends if I'm going for a 'pale' look or actually want to look like I've seen a glimmer of sun this year.  I tend to lean towards embracing my paleness :)  Oh, you'll have to excuse my dodgy eyeliner too - for some reason I did it after mascara which made it hard :p  All these colours are really pretty and I'm finding it hard to find a negative... maybe the cost - £12 for for a 4 shadow palette is quite steep, but I also always say you get what you pay for and I'm a strong believer of that and the quality of these is brilliant.

EDIT: 17/01/12 After using the blusher for several months now I can report back that this is pretty much my favourite blusher ever.  I love it!  Best £4 you'll spend :)

Have you tried FashionistA products yet?  What did you think of them?

Maybelline Colour Tattoos USA edition

Hey guys!  So I called this post 'USA edition' because I wasn't sure what to call it... I recently did a makeup swap as you know, and 4 of the products I got (I'd requested these) were the limited edition colour tattoos that Maybelline have launched for Autumn/Fall.  First off, I love them! Second off, here's the pics and review at the bottom ;)

My Thoughts

I've found the colour tattoo's to be a bit hit and miss... the turquoise one creased on me like a mf'er, others don't blend well (the grey one), but I really loved these colours so I really wanted to try them, and boy am I glad I did!

I have the full collection (Mossy Green, Gold Shimmer, Barely Beige, Rich Mahogany <-- hello Anchorman!) - first thing that strikes me is that Barely Beige is really similar to the MAC Painterly paint pot, it's a good base colour for pretty much any colour/powder you want to put on top.

They all blend well, and you can wear all 4 colours at the same time starting with barely beige in the inner corner and 1/3rd, then Gold shimmer in the middle, then rich mahogany on the outer third, then, use the mossy green on the outer corner and taking it into the crease :)  The Maybelline quad in Smokey Cinnamon goes really well over the top if you want the tattoo's to last longer :) (yes, I got that too, which I might add, is equally awesome!).  As for their longevity, they've been lasting for about... 6-8 hours before they really start creasing and to be fair, that's about as long as normal eye shadows last with me so I'm pretty happy with that :)  Overall I love them, super happy with the colours, especially the mossy green :)

Fashionista Double Collection Mascara

Hey guys!  Today's post is on FashionistA's Double Collection mascara.  Here's some pics, and a review at the bottom :)  Super excited, never tried anything like this before :)

FashionistA Double Collection Mascara £8.00*

My Thoughts

As I said before, I've never tried anything funky like this before so I was a bit apprehensive.  I have fairly long eyelashes anyway so lengthening isn't something I would naturally go for, I'd tend to go for volume but the problem with them is that they often clump your lashes, which trust me, isn't a good look!

I like the 2 step system, it's definitely made for some pretty sweet lashes :)  The white lengthening mascara part is really easy to apply and it dries quite quickly.  The black top coat applies just as easily, neither have a strong scent (unlike the covergirl lash blast).  My lashes didn't stick together and they were definitely longer, yay :)  All in all I really liked it, it's something I would recommend to a friend, the only negatives were that it took a while to coat all the white, and the brushes weren't the best, they didn't grip my lashes amazingly, but they weren't terrible, certainly not enough to put me off, and I'd be inclined to either reach for another mascara if you're in a rush, or just use the step 2 part (the black end) if you're in a hurry :)  I'm looking forward to using it more as it makes for a nice dramatic look (which you all know I like for the eyes)  :)

UPDATE:  I've used it a lot more now and I'm definitely getting quicker with it.  The black end works well by itself but for the full effect I'd always say to use it properly with the full process :)

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette

Hey my lovelies!  So, I've been rumaging through my makeup bag/drawer recently and thought even though you can't buy this palette any more, you can buy all the individual colours so it's still worth swatching it all up for you :)  Here's the yummy pics :)

I'm going to be annoying and remind you about my giveaway too :)  Only a couple of days left!!!

The following swatches were all done by using my index finger to swipe over each shadow 3 times.  This was also without any primer.

Left Row (top to bottom)

Middle Row (top to bottom)

 Right Row (top to bottom)

All these colours are stunning - I love them all - even though I wouldn't necessarily wear all of them.  The only ones I have trouble wearing are Tainted, Junkshow and Omen - every time I wear pink eyeshadow I look like there's something wrong with my eye... I just can't carry it off, despite how pretty it is.  The only one I can get close to pulling off is Tainted - it has the most pretty golden glow/shimmer which the camera probably hasn't picked up.

Ace is an amazing colour, brilliant for making almost any colours smokey.  I believe you can buy all of these individually or as part of other palette's.

Most of the colours in this palette I'd re-purchase - I love it :)

What's your favourite Urban Decay shadow?

Friend Swaps Number 6

Hey everyone!  So, this is number 6 in the 'Friend Swaps' series.  For the moment this is the penultimate one in the series, however I'm sure that in 6 months - 1 year we'll have done more swaps and I'll pick up where I left off then :)

So today, I give you the Natural Collection single eye shadow in the colour Midnight.

I'll be honest, this colour I could take or leave.  It's not quite black enough for me, if I'm going for a black, I want it to be a deep dark black.  However, if you're looking for an easy matte black to give a smokey effect, if you do quite a bit of blending with this it'll give a lovely smokey effect.  It's just a bit 'meh' for me... nothing about it grabs my attention.  It doesn't have glitter, a shimmer or anything like that - I like matte colours, but in actual colours and not black.  They only cost £1.79, so if you get one and you don't like it, you haven't wasted a whole lot of moolah!  That's just my thoughts anyway.

What do you think of Natural Collection eye shadows?

Friend Swaps Number 5

Hey everyone!  Welcome to 'Friend Swaps' number 5 :)

Have you ever heard of the cosmetic brand called GOSH?  I have, but I've never tried them.  Luckily my friend gave me a little shadow pot of theirs, yay!

At first I thought this was a jet black shadow, but it's got little silver glittery bits in it too, yay!  If you're going for a dramatic look, smokey eye etc, this is perfect for smoking it out.  It's a loose powder so as usual expect a lot of fall out but that can easily be cleaned up with a bit of concealer.  Also as I said in my previous 'Friend Swap' post, this is without eye shadow primer.  So, if you use primer, the colour will be even better :)

What do you think about GOSH cosmetics? What have you tried of theirs?

MUA Gel Eyeliners

Hey guys, I've been meaning to write about the MUA Gel Eyeliners for a couple of weeks now, so while the Sims 3 is busy installing on my new computer, I figured I'd take the chance to write it :)  Yay!

My Thoughts

Overall, I love them.  I've tried loads of different gel eyeliners, and none have been good, they've all transferred onto my lid, or smudged down my face (not a good look), but these don't move at all.  I wore them all day and night, and at the end, there were exactly as they were when I put them on - awesome.  They're also a fairly wet formula, very soft, so I think it'll take them a while to dry out - you can layer them and build them up really easily too if you want a more dramatic look.

My only reservation or dislike, is in removing them.  Most of the gel liners I've used before easily melt off when you use a remover wipe, but these, sort of crumble/flake which means you end up with lots of little bits over your face, which takes a while to get rid of.  So, all in all I love these, I'd buy them again and definitely recommend them to a friend, but just be prepared for it to take a while when you remove them ;)

MUA Undressed palette

So when the Undressed palette launched, I was on my Project 10 Pan and for once wasn't able to jump on the 'omgilovethis' bandwagon when I wanted to.  I patiently waited and waited, and then bought one online to add to my giveaway (all done and dusted now), I sneakily added an extra one to the shopping basket, even though I was on P10P (I know, naughty!) for me, the way I looked at it - I wasn't going to use it, or even open it to swatch until P10P was over, and this way it would save me 2 lots of P&P.

I stuck to it and didn't use it until I'd finished P10P, yay!  And about 3 weeks ago (ish) I discovered the wonder that is the Undressed palette... and OH... MY... GOD... I love it!  Here's some shiny pics, and I'll tell you in more and better words, why I love it so much underneath them ;)

My Thoughts

Where do I begin?  Ok, colours - they are an almost exact dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette, and if you haven't been living with your head buried in the sand, or kidnapped by Russian spies, then you'll already know that.  Blog after blog have swatched them side by side showing how close they are, in fact Beauty Boutique did a great post about it, and yet the costs of both are worlds apart (£4 v £36).

Because of the range of colours (lights to darks, smokeys, mattes and shimmers) you can create so many different looks with them, from easy everyday light soft colours, to more dramatic smokey browns/blacks and greys.  As for durability, they last as well as any high end eyeshadow I've ever used.  I use Urban Decay primer potion underneath it as I do with any other shadow, the vibrancy is great, you'll look as good when you go to bed, as you do when you first put it on.

Seriously, I can't tell you how much I love this - it's my go-to palette that at the moment, I'm using 5-6 days out of 7... (and no, they're not paying me to say this and I did buy it with my own money - I just love it!) as far as I'm concerned, it's a no-brainer, and I'm a die-hard Urban Decay fan, but MUA you've won me over ;)

Nice on MUA - knocked it out of the park again!

Covergirl Shimmering Sands

Hey everyone!  So I thought I'd review something I've been using for a little while, the Covergirl Shimmering Sands trio.  I had it sent to me in a makeup swap I did and I really really like it.  Here's the pics, and then what I think :)  Before I start - do you like these big photos?  Or prefer them slightly smaller?

I love these colours, and they look so pretty on.  There's a few different ways to wear them depending on the look you're going for.  Also don't forget, as with any of my swatches, these were swatched without primer - so they're even more intense when you factor primer in :)

I love these, and as well as my MUA Undressed palette, these have quickly become a go-to trio for me, for a simple easy neutral look.

Have you used this trio before?  Did you like it?  And what's your favourite Covergirl item?
