Remember a couple of weeks ago, I asked you what I should spend my £60 on? There were quite a few suggestions for 'By Terry' but that was far too expensive, I really wanted to get 2-3 products for my money. A couple of people suggested MAC, and after much deliberation, and I mean, MUCH, I decided to listen to you lot and buy some MAC. It's not something I have much of in my collection, so thought I'd use the opportunity to try some new things - here's what I bought :)
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow, in Pinkluxe - £30
MAC Mineralize Blush, in Gentle - £21
MAC Retro Matte Lipstick, in Flat Out Fabulous - £15.50
Swatches of the Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow in Pinkluxe

A closer peek at some of those shadows
As you might be able to guess, I picked up the eye shadow palette purely for one shade - that stunning, glittery, beautiful purple shade - it's so stunning! I'd looked up swatched of it first and could see just how pretty it was - my only niggle is that I'm struggling to recreate that - I use an eye shadow primer first, but I just can't seem to get it to translate on the lid, some of the glitter comes off the brush, but that's about it, the darkness of it stays on the brush, and only some flakes of glitter transfer - any tips for helping with this? Should I try applying it wet?
I have an MSF in Blonde and have always loved it, so I decided to pick up another one, this time in Gentle. It's a plumy slightly berry-toned blush, with a gorgeous glow and subtle gold sparkle (not like NARS Orgasm). It's soft and very blendable - I wore it today for the first time and love it - I'm looking forward to wearing this more :)
Last but not least, the lipstick, a retro matte in Flat Out Fabulous - a dusky but bright pink, VERY well pigmented and utterly gorgeous. I'm such a fan of matte lipsticks, I can't wait to try this and see how it wears :) Keep an eye on my instagram for pics!
I'll be coming back to write reviews for each piece, so don't forget to check back :) Oh and for those of you who've added up my total, yep it was a little over £60, but I think they're worth it :)
What did you think of my picks? Would you have recommended anything else?
Fantastic picks! Love the look of that palette, though its a shame about the colour pay off on the glittery purple because its absolutely stunning. Too Faced have a primer for glitter eye shadows, you can use it for pigments and shimmery products too, here's the link if you want to check it out: http://www.boots.com/en/Too-Faced-Shadow-Insurance-Glitter-Glue_1190783/. You could use MAC fix+ that works as well.
ReplyDeleteNice picks :) I've been wondering how's the quality of these eye shadows from that range as I never see any reviews about them, the purple shade is stunning! I would definitely use it with damped brush and/or on top of sticky black base like a black eye pencil :) The lipstick's shade is gorgeous! x

Those shadows look gorgeous - it's a shame the colour isn't coming out quite the same on the brush as it is on a swatch. Maybe try a damp brush and see if that helps the transfer?
ReplyDeleteThe eyeshadows are soo pretty! I really want to try Charlotte Tilbury make up - maybe next time?
ReplyDeleteI like that purple color in the eyeshadow, looks fab x
ReplyDeleteWow that purple! I'd definitely say try applying it with a damp brush first and see if that helps. Good luck! xx

That eye shadow is gorgeous! I think the purple shade really draws me to it as well. I have looked at Flat out fabulous before but I'm always a little concerned about matte MAC shades as they're usually far too drying for me x

I'm really loving the MAC blushers at the moment! They have so many amazing colours.
ReplyDeleteAlso the lipsticks are to die for, I've bought three in four months which is a lot to me as they're 20.50€ in my country! I hope you get the most of your picks :)x

Love everything you got. I've been thinking I need to go to Mac, and your post is just pushing me to make the trip :D For the eyeshadow, there's this thing I do. Firstly, make sure you apply an eyeshadow base to your eyelid, then apply a little bit of it to the back of your hand and smooth it out but dont rub it in. Then dip the brush in it and then in the eyeshadow. I find this works for me better than a damp brush. If not, only other way I'd say is using your finger to apply the eyeshadow x
ReplyDeleteThanks :) Yeah - I think I need to experiment with it and work out how to get the most out of it - it is seriously gorgeous though!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) From my limited experience, I think their normal range is probably better quality, but I need to experiment a bit more with the palette before I firm up my thoughts :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kat - they're stunning aren't they! Yeah, will try with a damp brush, and I'll try with a glitter primer :)
ReplyDeleteThey really are aren't they :) Well, I'm not sure when the next time will be, this was bought with an AdSense payout that's taken 18 months to build up :P
ReplyDeleteYeah really pretty isn't it :)
ReplyDeleteI know.... I know :) Yeah, going to give that a try :D
ReplyDeleteI know - I couldn't not buy it :) I actually found this matte to be more hydrating than I expected :)
ReplyDeletethey're so good aren't they! Yeah their lipsticks are always a safe bet :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Nia :) thanks for the tips, I might well give that a try :D
