Benefit v Barry M - Loose Eyeshadow

Ok, so I was in work the other day wearing my Benefit Lust Duster in Punk Royalty when a friend asked if I'd seen the Barry M Dazzle Dust, to which I replied 'nope!'. So the next day, she kindly brought in a lovely purple dazzle dust for me to try and do a bit of a comparison on. Here's my findings :)

Benefits' Lust Duster - £14 and might now be discontinued (or updating the line)
First off, I've had this for about a year, maybe 8 months. I haven't used it extensively, probably used it... 6-10 times. It's a loose powder with tiny little bits of glitter in it, very pretty. It looks quite dark in the pot, but when applied it has a lavender hue.

I've searched the net for confirmation of the sizes of the pots, but I can't find anything other than the Benefit one is 1.8g but I can't find any mention about the Barry M one. I would say on looking at the pots that the Benefit one is bigger.

Barry M in the colour Cherry- £4.95(ish) - available in a range of 60 colours
So I've had this for about... 3days. It's on loan to me, but one thing I will say, is that after this experiment, I will be going to buy a range of my own :) The main difference between this one and the Benefit one is that this one, is more metallic. The colours are a really close match, Punk Royalty (Benefit) is more matt (with little bits of glitter) than the Barry M one.

Video Review

Ultimately I love both products, but the Barry M was definitely the better of the two. I will continue to use the Benefit one, but when it's done (and if it's brought back from being discontinued) I doubt I'll replace it.

Well done Barry M! A great Dupe for Benefit and many others :)

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour

ow what a mouth-full of a title!

Ok, so I've had one of these in my posession for a while, and have been waiting to find the right oppotunity to wear said item. I decided to have an experiment yesterday, put it on and see how long it lasts for whilst doing normal things, eating / drinking / talking etc.

One of the weirdest things is it's a combination of lipstick, and lip gloss, but in a pencil! It's really super highly saturated with colour, glitter and gloss. It's really long lasting, for me, it lasted up until I took it off, which was about 6 hours of wear, it could have easily stayed on longer, and without needing to be topped up. One of the things I liked best about it, was that it didn't bleed, at all. Now, I don't usually do anything special if I wear lipstick, I don't powder my lips, use lip liner, I just plonk it on, and I do get bleed with it after a short while, to the extent that I need to remove it all and reapply. But with this there was none! It felt like there was bleed, but when I looked in the mirror there was none at all :)

Here's a swatch on my arm so you can see how saturated the colour is.

I don't know if the camera picked up just how much glitter and sparkle is in these, but there's a lot! They have a great range of colours, the colour I have is in 'Big Bang', but they also have F-Bomb (glossy deep red), Adrenaline (hot pink), Punch Drunk (lighter red), Crush (bright, non-glittery pink). They retail for £15 each, which as far as I'm concerned, is a fair price considering the quality of the product. Now, on the downside, it does also work as a lip-stain, and not necessarily in a good way. I still have a pink blotch on my arm from doing the swatch yesterday, and I've scrubbed it and showered. When I woke up this morning, my lips were still pink also, and still are now :) On a lighter note, it does add a pop of colour when adding a clear/sparkly lip gloss on top though :)

Ultimately, I'd say this is a great product, I'd highly recommend it, but be warned, you'll still be wearing the colour the next day long after you've taken it off.

My experience of Fat Cat Mascara by MeMeMe

Ok - so I was heading down for a funeral, hence wanting to buy a 'waterproof' mascara. Now, in Supadrug, the label on the mascara that had the price on it said 'Fat Cat Waterproof Mascara, £7.99'. I couldn't see anything on the actual packaging saying waterproof, but none of the others were, so assumed the label was right.

Wrong!

So, of course at the funeral, I shed a few tears, and as I gently brushed my eye lashes, black streaks came off all over my finger, definitely NOT waterproof! Now, even though it wasn't waterproof, doesn't mean it was bad. It gave me great lashes, now excuse the photo, yes my eyebrows need some TLC, and yes, this was after wearing makeup for 10 hours :)

The Fat Cat Mascara, gave me lashes, nearly as good as my Urban Decay Skyscraper multi-benefit Mascara w

hich retails at £15 from Debenhams here in the UK. Pics below.

and open...

I didn't find that the Fat Cat Mascara clumped my eye lashes, the brush applicator wasn't as good as the Urban Decay one which I usually use, but it was pretty decent, and lets not forget, half the price :) I'm not sure I'm ready to give up my Skyscraper mascara just yet, but I'm really pleased with the Fat Cat one :)

Fat Cat Mascara by MeMeMe

So today I bought a new mascara. I'm off to a family funeral tomorrow so I wanted to get a waterproof mascara as I don't have one currently at the moment. After MUCH deliberating, I figured I had to pick one! So instead of going for brands I'd tried before like Revlon, L'oreal etc, I decided to try a new brand, MeMeMe. The mascara retails at £7.99 which is about half the price of the Urban Decay Skyscraper mascara I use. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, we'll test it tomorrow! But I thought I'd put a post on here and a couple of pics for you too.

From first impressions the wand looks quite big, especially compared to the Urban Decay one, but if it grips the lashes well I'll be happy.

I'll re-post how I got on at the Weekend and do a bit of a review on it too,

Toodle-pips!
