My first OOTD - Blue maxi dress

Ok, before you scroll down to look at the picture I'd like you to read this first.  I'm not someone who is body confidant, pretty far from it.  I've been overweight since I was in my mid-teens - sometimes not very overweight, and other times very overweight.  Currently, I'm very overweight.  Yes I've recently had a baby, but I'm not using that as an excuse.  Yes I have an under active thyroid too, but again, that's not an excuse.  I'm overweight, end of story.

I have put off doing any kind of outfit post for the last 3+ years because I've never had the confidence to 'bear all' in a post.  Some of you have met me in real life, and know the 'real' me, not the photograph snippets I share on here.

After watching the likes of Callie on Plus Size Wars the other day, I really felt inspired.  There I was watching other women who are like me - yeah we're all different sizes, but they're all overweight too and confident in their skin - something one day I hope I am.  I'm not saying I wouldn't like to lose weight, of course I would, but I have begun to accept myself for who I am - an overweight woman. So, if anyone feels I shouldn't be sharing this, well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.  But this is me, un-edited and un-photoshopped and saying #effyourbeautystandards I #honourmycurves.

New Look inspire maxi dress
Dress c/o New Look Inspire £19.99* | Cardigan is from Asda | Necklace Dorothy Perkins | Bracelets are a gift

Bead bracelets

Dorothy Perkins flower necklace
The dress is a blue bold print bandeau maxi dress - something I wear a lot (maxi dresses) and wore a lot through my pregnancy.  It's made of a very light material (viscose), and the bold print really helps to disguise those lumps and bumps.  The only things I'd change about this dress is I'd make it shorter, I'm about 3" too short for it so it really needs to be taken up, and I'd like to see it being more fitted around the bust as it's really quite baggy around there at the moment, but other than that this is a really lovely dress that I've loved adding to my maxi dress collection.

New Look plimsolle wish list

This past couple of months, I've been really craving a pair of Vans, but they're a little on the expensive side for me at the moment (lets face it, I spend most of my spare money on makeup and not shoes/clothes), and in my search for a more thrifty replacement, I've found some great alternatives from New Look - here's my top 3 pairs of plimsolls for a fraction of the price.
Left: Teens Navy Double Tongue Lace Up Trainers £9.99, Middle: Babycham Black Glitter Lace Ups £20 currently, Right: Teens Burgundy Chunky Lace Up Plimsolls £9.99

I love that the left ones look just like Converse, but with a New Look price tag, £9.99 (only available in Navy) for those is quite a bargain, plus, these will look great with jeans, or shorts, or even a short summery skirt.  The middle ones are pure fun, and by Babysham but stocked in New Look, they're currently on offer for £20 (down from £39.99), another pair that would look great with jeans.  Then on the right we have the Vans dupes (available in Aubergine or Black), only £9.99 and looking very similar they're a great find.  These would be perfect for boat trips, paired with jeans or shorts or a casual walk down the beach - really nice summer plimsolls.

So if your purse strings can't quite stretch to Vans or Converse, these plimsolls could be a great alternative, and with the Babyshams being half price, they're a steal of a bargain too.  They could also double up as a great present for a teenage friend or young niece/sister, I'm not 100% sure I could get away with them as I am in my 30s :)

What plimsolls are top of your shoe wish list?  (oh and if you're reading this in Wales, change plimsolls for daps) :)

New Look haul

Well, well, well, it had to happen at some point, my first clothing haul!  Of course I've bought clothes since I started blogging, but never blogged about it, until now!!!

On Friday I'm heading off to London ready for the blogger meetup.  I'm also a little fed up of wearing the same old tired clothes all the time, so last night after work I popped to New Look (one of my new favourite places for plus size clothing) and picked a couple of bits up.  So without further ado (and excuse the photo's, I don't really have anywhere good to photograph clothes!) here's what I bought :)

A plain black cami
A plain black cami which was about £3.50 - my old ones are... well... old!  This one feels really soft too.

New Look Aztec top
You just can't escape the Aztec print right now!  I liked this because of the nice back and the pattern is quite flattering :)  This was £12.99

An owl print cabin bag from New Look
This I wanted to take my hairdryer, straighteners, hairbrush and makeup in to travel to London.  It won't all fit in our little suitcase so this was a great alternative, and it was only £14.99 and covered in cute owls :)

ASOS
A black and white top from ASOS
I'm just throwing this one in too - it was from ASOS and it's what I plan to wear (with a black cardi) on the day of the blogger meetup (with really dark blue jeans and my DM shoes).  It was £35 :)

So that's what I bought - not that exciting but hey, it's my first clothing/fashion haul - I hope you liked it as something a little different, let me know if you'd like to see more posts like this and if you do I'll be sure to share them with you :)  Oh, and if you're going to the meetup on Saturday make sure you come and say hi :)
