FASHION | What Baby Wore Today #WBabyWT

A little while ago I was invited to take part in a really fun campaign run by Asda, their #WBabyWT (What Baby Wore Today) campaign (how fun is that!?).   Well, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I'm very fond of photographing little Squidge, and he loves the camera on him too (such a little poser).  So when I was asked to collaborate, I jumped at the chance (any excuse to photograph him in cute clothes eh!).

I've long been a fan of Asda baby (and grown up!) clothes.  They're really good quality (very soft) and very affordable.  Miles and miles better than Primark in terms of quality, and pretty much the same price, as well as really lovely designs.

First up, Squidge models the 2 piece check shirt and shorts set (£8*).  Now seriously, how cute is he in this outfit!  It's lovely quality, the shorts are a thinner denim so more comfortable, and the shirt is a light cotton - perfect for Summer (lol, like we've had a Summer this year!).

Check shirt and shorts

Next up, Squidge models the Mr. Happy t-shirt and shorts combo (£5*)(I really really love him in this!). This is made out of 100% cotton too and is really soft.  Other than it being a very apt top for him (he's really become a happy chappy recently, more so than normal, constantly giggling at things), I love that it doesn't have poppers to do up on the shoulder, instead it's very stretchy.  Considering his head is 98% percentile (BIG!) and this still fits, that's pretty awesome.

Mr Happy t shirt and shorts

The next two outfits are part of one set - I love good value finds like that! It's the sea creatures print 4-piece set (£10* - now discounted to £6).  The first outfit is a romper suit where it's an all one one, so the vest part is actually part of the actual romper.  Once again, made of cotton and really soft against babies skin.  I really adore this romper suit - I'd bought loads and loads of romper suits for him, thinking that it was going to be a nice hot summer, but he's had hardly any opportunity to wear them as it's been pretty chilly and rainy.

Another great outfit and romper suit is the Finding Nemo All-in-one stripe and socks set (£8* now down to £5).  I love that the socks match the outfit and have a yellow top, a really nice touch.  Again, all made of cotton so it's nice and soft.

Finding Nemo romper suit

Yet another romper suit picked by me! This time it's the Mr Men Mr Tickle romper suit (£5*).  I really love seeing him in grey, I think it really brings his eyes out :)  I love the blue stripes on the sleeves too, a really nice touch, better than it just all being plain.

I have also bought him this Superman swim suit (£8*), I was planning to put him in it when we get out his little paddling pool, but we haven't had good enough weather to get the paddling pool out, and I doubt we will until next year... I just hope he gets to wear it before he grows out of it! It just seemed so mean to be as he's a 'Kent'.

What do you think of my picks?  Have you tried Asda baby before?

New Look haul

Well, well, well, it had to happen at some point, my first clothing haul!  Of course I've bought clothes since I started blogging, but never blogged about it, until now!!!

On Friday I'm heading off to London ready for the blogger meetup.  I'm also a little fed up of wearing the same old tired clothes all the time, so last night after work I popped to New Look (one of my new favourite places for plus size clothing) and picked a couple of bits up.  So without further ado (and excuse the photo's, I don't really have anywhere good to photograph clothes!) here's what I bought :)

A plain black cami
A plain black cami which was about £3.50 - my old ones are... well... old!  This one feels really soft too.

New Look Aztec top
You just can't escape the Aztec print right now!  I liked this because of the nice back and the pattern is quite flattering :)  This was £12.99

An owl print cabin bag from New Look
This I wanted to take my hairdryer, straighteners, hairbrush and makeup in to travel to London.  It won't all fit in our little suitcase so this was a great alternative, and it was only £14.99 and covered in cute owls :)

ASOS
A black and white top from ASOS
I'm just throwing this one in too - it was from ASOS and it's what I plan to wear (with a black cardi) on the day of the blogger meetup (with really dark blue jeans and my DM shoes).  It was £35 :)

So that's what I bought - not that exciting but hey, it's my first clothing/fashion haul - I hope you liked it as something a little different, let me know if you'd like to see more posts like this and if you do I'll be sure to share them with you :)  Oh, and if you're going to the meetup on Saturday make sure you come and say hi :)

Get the festival look

I must admit, I haven't been to lots of festivals, but I've been to the best in my opinion (Glastonbury).  Back in the day when I was a student, I had the opportunity to work Glastonbury, which meant a free ticket, a secure camp site right in the middle of the action, free food & drink, and I got paid £250 for the 5 days we were there, this was in 2000 when David Bowie headlined.

Back then I was rocking bright pink hair and wearing very hippyish clothes, I felt right at home there.  I went with my cousin Sophie and we spent our time divided between seeing all the bands we liked (I was chuffed to see the Bloodhound Gang!) and working in an Italian ice cream parlour at the side of the Other stage.

Here are my tips for re-creating my old look (sorry I don't have any photo's though, they're all hidden away on actual printed photo's) but here's one taken about 2 years after (like, 11 years ago once I dyed my hair dark) :)

If dying your hair isn't something you want to do, hair chalk is a great alternative.  Back when I went to Glastonbury hair chalk didn't exist, but if it did, I'd have had rainbow hair!!!  I found some on ebay, they seem to range from about £5 to £10 depending on what set you go for.

My festival look was to keep it simple as lets face it, you're most likely to be covered in mud for a good proportion of it, I wanted to be comfortable too as I was going to be on my feet a lot both working and watching bands.  Back then I had a really different look than I do now, it was all about big boots, black clothes (I never wore colour), dark eye makeup (never lipstick, bronzer or blusher) and well just being a bit different :)

To help you get into the festival mood the good people at New Look have also shared a really good infographic - this is the first one I've decided to share, most of the time I think they're quite rubbish, but this one I really like - it looks at different festival looks through the ages since the late 60s, here's the link to it, enjoy!

What's your favourite festival look?

One outfit to rule them all

Often I catch myself browsing the pages of fashion magazines and websites thinking 'if only'... if only I had the money to wear all those nice clothes, and if only I had the figure to do them justice!

I often find myself shying away from buying clothes in stores and opting for online instead, places that specialist in the more curvaceous of figures :)  But I found out not too long ago that New Look do a plus size range called Inspire (an excited colleague rather excitedly told me!).  Around Christmas time I ventured into New Look (instead of the usual shopping online) to check out their plus size collection and I have to say, I was pretty impressed!  I tried on a few things and didn't expect them to fit, but yanno what, they did!  I bought an owl hoodie (with cute little ears on the hood) and some cool black skull studded loafers.  Well as fashion changes from season to season, I did some more of my dreamy online shopping and put this outfit together - it's a bit of a 'I'm going out for cocktails with my friends, I want to look like I've made an effort, but not too much' sort of outfit :)  <-- I'd recommend saying that in a false fancy accent too :)

1.  Brown and Silver mixed stud bangle stack, or as I like to call it, oooh pretty strappy bracelet! (£7.99)
2.  Inspire Shell Pink Sequin Boucle Peplum Top, or 'pretty peplum top!' (£22.99)
3.  Inspire navy skinny jeans - not really a better way to say that! (£12.99)
4.  Brown and Cream Crochet Panel Bowler Bag - awesomely pretty bag! (£19.99)
5.  Black Chunky Lace Up Heeled Work Boots - these lace up ankle boots actually remind me of ones I used to wear to school all those years ago! (£29.99)
6.  Yumi black bow knitted cardigan - I added this in as an alternate, so, if it's cold, this would make the outfit look cute :) (£37.99)

They're my picks, I hope you agree it would make a cute outfit :)  I really might treat myself to the peplum top, really like that :)  I'd like to do more posts like this, sort of style related, would you be interested in seeing more of these?

What was your favourite piece from my selection?

Seasonal Trend - Neons!

Hey everyone! Thought I'd do a slightly different post today - this is about this seaons' trend, which if you've been following it at all, you'll already know is Neon!

This really takes me back to the 80's, wearing neon earrings and jewellery, and bright (but pastel) eye shadows :) Oh and lets not forget crimped hair teased up to the max!

So the question is, how do I look on trend, without looking like the 80's has thrown up on me? Well, there's a few nice ways you can do this.

The Cambridge Satchel company have released a gorgeous range of their bags in neon shades - not dissimilar to the Rebecca Minkoff bags which retail for around the £200 mark.

The Classic satchel (one pictured) retails for about £75 and as you can see, comes in a great range of on-trend colours too :)

Also - the likes of TopShop and New Look, amongst many others, are selling a great range of bright coloured ballet pumps at the moment (and with a special mention to top shop for their awesome trackstar chunky hi-top trainers - I WILL be getting a pair of these) :)

Now, if bright shoes and Neon bags aren't your thing, OPI are doing a great collection of bright / Neon colours at the moment, these are available on their website www.opi.com as well as in department stores that sell OPI :)

MAC are also doing a great collection of colours bright for the spring in their Shop / Cook collection available online, and I believe that their flagship store in London. So, instead of accessorising for the season, perhaps team up with a pastel matt lip, bight eye and neon nails :)

Hope you've enjoyed this slightly different post :)
