Vision Direct glasses

Vision direct glasses

Vision direct R&L glasses

Since I've started learning to drive, wearing glasses has become essential.  Team that up with new red hair and what goes better with it? New funky glasses :)  These are c/o Vision Direct.

Me wearing glasses

Me wearing black & orange glasses
** Excuse my skin - I'm going foundation and concealer free in January, so you'll have to suffer through my skin looking a bit gross :P **

These are the R&L vision glasses in black & orange, and they're only £35*!  Up until recently, I'd only ever bought my glasses from Specsavers, which is where I get my eyes tested, but I've put off buying a replacement pair for the ones I misplaced as they're not cheap, my last pair set me back £120 and I just didn't have that kind of money lying around to fork out on them.

Knowing there are online shops like Vision Direct who sell good quality glasses for an affordable price means that the next time I need a new pair, I certainly won't be heading to Specsavers or any other high street opticians again, I'll be buying online!

It's nice to actually have a choice of more than 1 pair of glasses to wear too, different coloured frames to go with different moods or different hair colours.  This pair also come with a nice little cleaning kit (a spray and a decent cleaning cloth).  When you wear as much makeup as I do, you'll find your glasses get dust and bits of makeup all over them very quickly and need cleaning often!

That all aside, I'm still promising myself a pair of Chanel prescription glasses one day, I want!!!  Check back on Friday for my next blog post :)

Handbag essentials

handbag makeup essentials
Welcome to the first instalment of my new blogging schedule (Monday's, Wednesday's and Fridays (with the odd extra exception) and YouTube on Tuesdays and Saturdays).  I thought I'd kick it off by sharing with you some of my handbag beauty essentials.

The beautiful makeup bag was given to me by Laura (A Scottish Lass) as part of my secret santa prezzies (thank you!!!).  I don't know about you, but sometimes during the day, I start to hate the feeling of the foundation on my skin and I end up taking it off (this is usually when I'm trying one out and don't like it).  I keep some Simple makeup wipes in my desk ready for when this happens.  To make sure I'm armed for this, I keep my Ginvera BB cream with me, it's light, fragrant and with decent coverage, always great to keep handy.

Next my Rimmel Stay Matte powder to help keep my ridiculously oily skin in check.  I also keep a little eye shadow palette on me because sometimes, it doesn't matter whether I've used eye shadow primer and creme shadow as a base for my eye shadow, it still creases like crazy, and when that happens (just to my right eye I might add!), I need to take my eye shadow off and start again - this is where this little trio comes in handy, at the moment it's the Wet n Wild silent treatment trio.

What makeup bag would be complete without a blusher?  Wanting to keep the need for brushes down, I opt for a creme blusher, and something pretty well pigmented - my Canmake creme blusher (which I had in a Japanese makeup swap).

I don't know about you, but sometimes in the morning I forget to put mascara on, it doesn't happen often but for those occasions I keep a mascara in my bag, it's typically one I like, but I'm not reaching for every day, at the moment this is the Max Factor wild mega volume.

Then the most important products, especially for this time of year, lip balms.  I keep quite a few on me to suit my different moods, but these I wear all the time and all day long (wearing the Korres one right now).  I also keep my Dior lip gloss in the bag as it's very close to being a balm, just a lot more shiny :)

For the most part, that's it.  I also keep a bottle of perfume on me (Armani Diamonds) just in case I forget to spritz before I leave the house.

What makeup essentials do you keep in your bag?  Oh, and do you like my new blogging schedule? Next blog post is incoming on Wednesday, but to keep you going until then, there'll be a new YouTube video tomorrow :)

A look back to 2013

Happy new year everyone!  I wasn't planning on publishing another blog post until Monday 6th (when my new blogging schedule started) but I had the urge to write a post looking back at 2013, on the good and bad things that happened :)

Overall, 2013 was a good year - there weren't any deaths in my family, work was good, all in all a year to be thankful for.  In a little more detail, here's what happened :)
  • Chris and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary (and 12 years in total being together)
  • I spent Christmas with my family in Ireland, spending quality time with my Dad and Nana
  • I lost a lot of weight (which I mostly regained...)
  • The year ended with some good personal achievements at work
  • We learnt how to make sushi :)
  • I achieved quite a few blog milestones (reaching 1,000 then 2,000 subscribers) :)
  • I travelled to London twice for blogger events and got to meet lots of lovely fellow beauty bloggers like Tattooed Tea Lady!
  • I was invited to lots of local blogger events, one of the highlights being the Elf shop launch

And here's the things that weren't so good...
  • I spent a night in hospital in London after having my first SVT (Supra ventricular tachycardia) - that was in April, and I've been on a waiting list to see a cardiologist all year, but I finally have an appointment for later on in Jan
  • My Nana fell very ill and nearly passed away, but thankfully she pulled through :)
  • Regaining the weight I lost... I'm determined to lose it again this year and keep it off!

There were quite a few other good and bad bits, but these were the main ones :)  I'm also determined that 2014 will finally be the year that Laura from A Scottish Lass and I will finally meet in real life too :D

What were your highlights of 2013?
