Mummy Monday #8

It's been a couple weeks since I've had time for a Mummy Monday update, so I thought I'd make sure I got one done for you today :)  It's been a great couple of weeks, so lets get started!

Monday
Tired Squidge
I don't see Squidge for much on Monday's as it's the day he goes to his grandparents (good practise for both of us ready for when I go back to work in 2 weeks - boooooo!).  I took this picture after I gave up trying to get him to nap - can you see how tired his little eyes are!?

Tuesday
Mummy baby
Tuesday he was hard work, it wasn't that he was constantly crying or anything, but he wanted to be held by me all the time, other than when he was being held by me, lol.  I took this at about 8am, we went to sit on the decking and a magpie caught our eye on the roof of the conservatory at the neighbours house :)

Wednesday
Philadelphia all over his face!
Wednesday I gave him a sandwich! It was made with unsalted butter and philadelphia and he loved it! It was chopped into finger slices and he'd basically suck a finger to get all the philly off it.  Oh my gosh was this a messy feed though - his clothes were covered in philadelphia! I also gave him some roasted sweet potato & carrot sticks - barely any of it made it's way into his mouth, most of it was squished in his hands, all over his clothes, the floor and his table :) This baby led weaning business is so messy!

Thursday
Crawling with his creeper
Thursdays are mummy club, but we didn't make it there.  It was a bit of a strange apathetic day... the little man wasn't napping when he was tired, his feeds were at odd times that clashed and it was a bit of a funny day.

Friday
Broccoli all over Squidge's face
Friday was great.  I'd made him some steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrot and potato) which he loved, the broccoli was his favourite :) He loved making a mess too (you should have seen it!).  We had a badly timed visit from Purple Bricks for a valuation - he'd just finished eating and was raring to crawl around the house, but I needed to be with the estate agent, such a nightmare!

Saturday
Date night

No pics of the little man from Saturday, we had SUCH a busy day! We got up, fed him twice, then headed to Barry to look at a couple houses.  After that, we came straight back home to feed him, and his Auntie was coming over to visit him.  Then his grandparents came to get him while his Auntie was still here, as he was staying with them over night (we all were).  Then a couple hours later, we went over to his grandparents to do his last feed and put him to bed. After that, we went out of our first date night since he was born :) We went to Jamie's Italian here in Cardiff, and then a place called the Bunkhouse (love it!).

Sunday
Squidge eating

Mummy and Squidge
Sunday we went out for a family lunch to a nearby Beefeater.  Squidge was really tired but wouldn't nap, he was really suffering with his gums, so we gave him some Nelsons which really seemed to help.  Above is a rare picture of me and him that's not a selfie :)

New things
* He's saying dada, dad, daddy :) Not necessarily at Chris, it's just babble but sounds lovely :)
* He can proper crawl as well as commando (but he's quicker commando crawling)
* He's climbing! Well, pulling himself up on things from sitting to standing, like in his cot
* His napping schedule has changed, again! He now naps twice a day, usually for at least an hour. One nap early in the morning, and the next late afternoon.
* We're moving! Well, hopefully! We're about to put our house on the market :)
* As of today he's also climbing! Something new every day right now!

Oh and last week I also wrote a guide to Cardiff for Rugby fans and those that might prefer shopping and eating to the rugby over on the Travelodge blog if you wanted to have a read :)

Mummy Monday #7

Good evening! I know this is really late in the day - but I just haven't had a chance to write this until now :)  We've had a good week, but once again, I'm struggling to remember everything we've done!

Monday
Hoover is dead
As usual, Squidge spent the day with his grandparents.  Monday's are the day's I usually get things done, like washing/dying my hair, blogging, filming YouTube videos - but there was so much that needed doing in the house, I chose to spend it cleaning! Seeing how he's quite mobile now, I knew that hoovering was a priority - it hadn't been done in ages and he's scared of the hoover, so this was the first opportunity I'd had in a while.  The gods were against me though, before I was finished my hoover broke... while I was cleaning the plug in the bathroom sink, it broke (the pin came out and fell down the plug-hole)... I forget but there was a third thing too :P

Tuesday
Cool story bro
Tuesday was a tough day - Squidge really wasn't happy and wouldn't nap. He was super tired but didn't want to know.  Eventually in desperation I called my father-in-law for help - he was going to drive him around for a while to get him to nap, but I ended up tagging a long and heading to Aldi to get some non-bio washing powder for the little man - we use the Aldi one as we've used that since before he was born (on his clothes) so we associate that smell as him - I'd hate to use anything else now :)

Wednesday
Yep, I just stood up, all by myself!
Wednesday was better - he was still fussy and not himself, but he did go from sitting to kneeling (on the sofa) then to standing!  It feels like he's doing so much every day now! I look at these photo's and can't believe what I see, a little boy! Not the tiny little baby who used to sleep in my arms... I do miss those days, but it's also really exciting to see all the things he's doing and learning :)

Thursday
Thursday morning racing
Thursday afternoon adventures
Thursdays are mummy club, and boy was it a busy day! I'd double-booked the morning - we had dentists at 9, and at 9:30 I was supposed to be having my nails done (at my house) - we jiggled things around a bit and had my nails done at 10 instead. Hubby had the morning booked off (for the Dentists) and the weather was amazing - it was so nice to spend a mid-week morning together, just the 3 of us :) Near lunch Chris' mum came over to help with Squidge - we went to the church centre ready for mummy club a bit early and had lunch there.  Squidge usually loves mummy club, but this week he really wasn't interested, he just wanted to be away from the other babies - he wasn't the most sociable.

When we came home from mummy club, he realised that he could drag himself beyond the sofa, so he dragged himself all the way to the front door! (today he even dragged himself under his Jumperoo, all the way into the conservatory - he's SO quick with it too) :)

Friday
Friday fun
The only thing I remember about Friday was making Squidge some home-cooked food - I've been feeling a lot of guilt over the pouches I've been feeding him, and they're really expensive, so I decided to try and find the time to prepare his food myself. His second food-feed on Friday was homemade, and all his food-feed's since :)  I don't know if it's a coincidence, but each of those nights he's slept much better.  He had been spending 2 hours crying when we were trying to get him to sleep, but Friday, Sat, Sun and tonight he's fallen asleep without needing us :) That being said, I've jinxed it now, we'll have a night of hell tomorrow :P

Saturday
Family pic :)
Saturday was a great day! I went off to the Celtic Manor for an afternoon/lunch watching a live cooking demo and eating some gorgeous food, with the most amazing views (more on that later in the week). During that time, the hubby took Squidge to Abergarvenny, had some food and raced back :) Then we went straight to our friends house who were laying on afternoon tea for us, it was amazing! Great tea, food and company :)  That's where the above pic was taken :)

Sunday
Squidge on Sunday in the garden
Sunday was also lovely! In the morning we spent some time in the garden (only about 10 mins as the sun was very hot!), then we headed into town to go shopping with the friends we'd had afternoon tea with the day before. Chris headed off with our friend Craig, and Squidge, they did a bit of shopping and chilled out in the Cardiff Castle grounds.  My friend Vicki and I went makeup shopping :D We went to Debenhams, I picked up the new YSL foundation, and the Shocking mascara, and my friend bought some great treats too (a MAC MSF blusher in Gentle, the Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation, the YSL Babydoll mascara and a Chanel quad).

All in all a good but very trying week.  Earlier on in the week Squidge was just really unhappy, crying loads when we tried to put him to bed and generally unhappy.  But the last few days have been amazing :)

Mummy Monday #6

Another week has gone by and I'm now on a 6 week countdown to going back to work, sad face :( As much as I really don't want to go back - I'm fed up of focussing on that.  Instead I'm trying to focus on making the most of the 6 weeks we have left before I'm back and trying to cram in lots of good stuff :)

Monday
First rose of the year
Sorry, no pics of Squidge from Monday - for some reason I didn't take any #mummyfail.  I honestly can't even remember Monday - ah yes, it was a bank holiday wasn't it! Ah I remember - we spent the entire day sorting out the loft, exciting stuff! Really not worth expanding on :P

Tuesday
Baby wearing

Tuesday we went to a friends house for a play date - they only live 2 streets away so I put Squidge in the sling to take him there, so much less hassle than getting the pram out and dragging it through the house!  Plus I love baby wearing - as does he!  After we got back home and I got him fed, I'd put a load of washing on which needed to go on the line.  It was a really warm day, so I brought Squidge out with me while I hung the washing up - he was obsessed with pulling the blanket back to look at the grass.

Wednesday
Butter wouldn't melt!
Mummy it's MY toast.

Trying to crawl
Can't really remember Wednesday either - we must have had a quiet day!  He hasn't crawled as such yet, but he's commando crawling everywhere still and very good at it - he can get around the room and to whatever he wants really quickly.  It does feel like he's going to crawl at any moment.  He's the closest he's been to doing it - he gets up on all fours and can either move his hands forwards one by one, or his knees - he just needs to do that at the same time and he'll be off!

Everyone keeps telling me to try and keep him from crawling for as long as possible (due to how exhausting it is when they crawl), but while I will be a lot more tired every day when he does, I want him to do it as soon as possible for his own development.

Thursday
At mummy club
Thursday I had my infills done on my acrylics and a new colour (how great is the peach for this time of the year?) and it was also mummy club!  We got there really late - Squidge refused his normal morning nap that he has around 9am, so at 11:15 I put him down for a nap and he passed right out (after trying all morning) and he didn't wake up again until 1:30! That's the longest nap he's had since he was a very small baby.  He needed a feed straight away, so we ended up not making it to mummy club until the last half hour - better than not getting there though :)

Friday
Napping in the rain
Happy with food
Despite the pictures - Friday was a terrible day.  Squidge was really unhappy (bear in mind, he typically smiles as soon as I get the camera out!) - he wouldn't nap and he wouldn't stop crying - so I whipped him out in the pram on a 2 mile round walk to get him to sleep - he fell asleep within 5 mins of leaving the house (whoop). But even after getting back and getting some food into his tummy he was just really unhappy - we think it's teething, but we've been saying that for a long time.  However, I have noticed on his bottom gums - at the front of the gum (not the top) there are 2 tooth shaped bumps (and now these bumps have appeared on the top set too) - so we think they're imminent!

Saturday
Off out for a walk
Saturday the little man and I spent the day at our our in-laws (his grandparents) as the hubby has been working on his OU project all weekend.  I plugged my laptop in and got lots of YouTube editing done and blogging (whoop) while they took care of Squidge (aww).

Sunday
Squidge playing with his mic

And finally Sunday - Sunday was great! The hubby took a few hours out from studying and we went for Sunday lunch with a couple of friends.  Squidge sat there in a high chair for an hour and a half and was totally content (so cute!), we couldn't have asked for a better baby :)  Then we went straight from there to a 3rd birthday party (these two things are why he was dressed up).

His Daddy did some walking practise with him too - something we don't do enough of - he spends loads of time stood up, but we really need to encourage and facilitate his walking too.  Daddy helped him walk across the room to me - very cute!

The last couple of nights have been pretty difficult trying to get him to sleep - settling him has taken 2 hours and a dose of Calpol, another reason we think he's teething.  Also - if you've enjoyed this post, you might want to head over to my mummy blog - today I've talked about why we've made the decision not to use plug socket covers :)

That was our week! How was yours?

Mummy Monday #5

Gosh it's been a busy old week!  I've been out with Squidge almost every day, making it one of our busiest weeks since he was born (other than the week we went to Bluestone and London!).  Here's what we got up to :)

Monday
Squidge having a happy Monday morning
Monday he spent the day with his grandparents, so I only had him for an hour or so in the morning, and then for the last hour of the day - so this was a morning snap :)  I both love and hate Mondays (like most people eh!) - I love that I get time to film YouTube videos and blog, but I miss him so much. It's all good practise though for when I go back to work :(

Tuesday
Squidge all ready for a day in town :)
Tuesday we had an exciting day in town.  I popped into work to say Hi to everyone, and we did some shopping as well as going on a long walk so this little man slept.  Then I had a meeting with someone from Urban Decay which was great.  Squidge was really well behaved all day, couldn't have sake for a better baby :)  Oh, I did manage to smash my knuckles into the door frame at Costa, it still hurts now :/

Wednesday
Squidge on his secret mission for Fathers Day :)
On Wednesday we went on a secret mission all tied into Fathers Day (going to be putting a gift guide together so watch this space!).  This was how happy he was, at our secret destination :)

Squidge being all moody and model like

Squidge trying to eat his bib!
Back at home in the afternoon I fed him, he decided that his bib was tastier than the food I was feeding him [inserts crying with laughter emoji].  Also, loving the moody model pic above!

Thursday
Squidge before mummy club
Thursdays is all about mummy club, and my mother-in-law spending some quality time with Squidge.  This was taken before mummy club, Nanny had shared some of her cheese on toast with him and he was LOVING IT! I mean come on, just look at that happy little smile!

Squidge at mummy club
Taken at mummy club - he's always so happy here, he loves seeing and being around other babies, even if he's teething or not feeling great :)

Friday
Happy faces
The BEST ice cream I've ever had from Science Cream
Friday was another day we were heading into town, this time to have lunch with a work friend who also has a baby just 3 days younger than Squidge.  After having lunch at Bills we went for a wonder around Mothercare, then Boots, and then we headed over to an ice cream parlour called 'Science Cream' they make ice cream with liquid nitrogen, it's all very cool! (get it!).  Anyhoo, I had a salted caramel ice cream with homemade honeycomb on top and salted caramel sauce - it was honestly, the nicest ice cream I've ever had!!!!!!

Saturday
Enjoying a Fentimans Ginger Beer
Saturday was a busy day at home.  We did pop to Aldi early in the morning to pick up some washing powder (for baby clothes - love how this smells), some fruit pouches and not much else.  Then at home, the hubby started the mammoth task of mowing the lawn, and I sorted out all the paperwork that had built up on the stairs - that was our day done! At the end of it, I enjoyed a Fentimans (love these!) Ginger Beer from the most recent Degustabox (still have to blog about last months! Hopefully live tomorrow).

Sunday
Trying out some new products from Neve and Urban Decay
Sunday was a family day - we went for lunch at a local pub called the Ty Mawr - usually a very nice pub for food, a bit more upmarket than your usual pub but we were left severely disappointed this time. Some of our food was cold, sides were brought out ages after the mains, service was slow and the meals came out missing food that should have been served with it, and the cuts of meat others had was awful... needless to say, we won't be going back.  I did enjoy trying out some new products from Urban Decay and Neve though in the morning - you know when you have some new things to try and you get really excited to do your makeup?  Then when you sit down to do it, you really take your time? Yeah, I did that and it was awesome :D

So that's our week - one of the busiest we've had since he was born and I can really feel it.  My left foot is really painful (I think I've sprained a tendon) and I've managed to bash all my knuckles and hands (silly mummy)!

What did you do last week?

Mummy Monday #4

Welcome to my 4th Mummy Monday, I hope you've all been enjoying the series so far?  Well, I'm going to try and think back through the days and recount our week - it's been a very busy one and I haven't taken anywhere near enough pictures, naughty mummy!

Monday
On Monday, it's Mummy time - Squidge spends most of the day with his grandparents in an effort for us all to get used to it ready for my return to work.  I had a to-do list as long as your arm, but I only managed to get a couple of things ticked off it, but they were big things that took time so it's fine. My breakfast was a yummy porridge with a dollop (teaspoon) of seedless raspberry jam, nom! And then I took before and after pics and couldn't quite get over the difference... in fact, it got me thinking about why I wear makeup, which led me to write a post all about it :)

Tuesday
Happy baby
Today we chilled out and had play time at home, if I remember correctly, the weather was rubbish too.  Not much happened, other than lots of play and smiles <3

Wednesday
Sad cat
Weds Squidge spent the day with his grandparents again as I had work-stuff to do.  I had a company-wide meeting to go to, and then I had lunch with my team, whoop.  The only picture I took that day was a screen shot of a George Takei post on FB of this cat's face (I know, what the hell am I taking screen shots of cats faces for... because I'm a crazy cat lady ofc!)

Thursday
If you can believe it, I didn't take one picture from Thursday! My mother-in-law came over quite early, the weather was horrific (chucking it down with rain all day), so my father-in-law came back and gave us a lift to the mummy/baby club we take Squidge to.  It was really funny actually, he had some proper little tantrums with other babies because he wanted their toys - he cried REAL TEARS... such a delicate flower! After that, we headed to Sainsburys (just next door) and had coffee and cake while we fed the little man and waited for a life home as it was still chucking it down.

Friday
Mummy/Squidge day
Friday was Mummy/Squidge day.  We went for a walk around our local park, which he really enjoyed, only on the walk back when I was nearly out of the park did he fall asleep (I went there in the hope he'd fall asleep quickly) so I ended up sitting in the car park while he was sleeping for over 30 mins before walking him home (he'd have woken up if I'd walked him any further thanks to some massive harsh bumps I'd have to push the pram over).  The other pic I took because I turned my back for 2 seconds, he was on the mat, sat up, and when I looked back, he was in the middle of the lounge floor, about 1-2 metres from where I left him! He'd rolled over there and commando crawled :P

Saturday
Day in Birmingham
I was up and out of the house early as I was going to The Baby Show in Birmingham (read about that here). I got to the station too late to get a proper breakfast (croissant get in my face!) so I ended up with this accidental sugar-filled faux healthy breakfast... then the middle pic is the business for as far as the eye can see - and then finally, coming home 2 hours earlier than planned due to getting around The Baby Show really quickly, whoop.  When hubby picked me up from the station, we drove to a nearby popular lake and fed Squidge while looking at the ducks, it was so lovely as I'd barely seen him that day, or much in the week.

Sunday
Sleeping Squidge
Another day where I failed to take any/many photo's, except for this one solitary pic.  We visited Dyffryn Gardens (National Trust place) for the... 5th time? It's about 40 mins away, and he only fell asleep 10 mins before getting there, so we sat in the car for a while to let him sleep, this was him sleeping :)

It's been a good week, but very busy.  This week will be quite busy too, I have an exciting meeting with Urban Decay on Tuesday (I'm keeping my fingers crossed he doesn't cry through the meeting!), and then on Friday I'm meeting a work friend who's currently on maternity leave for coffee too (Thursday mummy club as usual).

Oh, and I'll try to take more pictures this week too :)
