The Body Shop - Wild Argan oil

Body Shop Wild Argan bath products
Body Shop Wild Argan shower gel and body lotion

This month The Body Shop are doing a fantastic collaboration with bloggers in the form of a blogger review advent calendar!  Today is my turn, and I'm featuring their Wild Argan shower products. Have a look at the calendar to see what other bloggers have reviewed in the lead up to Christmas.

The Body Shop shower ranges are famous. Regularly releasing new limited edition scents and additions to their permanent lines, one of my favourites being the blueberry range from Winter 2013 (the Raspberry range is the closest replacement to this).

This is their wild argan oil range, full of the benefits of the argan plant and everything you'd expect from the Body Shop.

They have a whole suite of products including a scrub, body butter, lip balm, bath bubbles and even a lovely blue body buffer.

The scent is different to what I expected, I'm not sure what I thought I'd be like, but it's a lovely honey-type scent, a warm soft but sweet scent.  Pretty much every time I step out of the shower after using this I get a compliment about the scent.  The shower gel lathers up really well and leaves your skin smelling great and refreshingly clean.

The body lotion is soft, hydrating, non-greasy and quick to absorb.  It comes with a pump dispenser which is great so you don't end up getting lotioned-up-hands all over the bottle, and you don't dispense too much product.

What is argan oil?
Argan oil comes from the argan tree which is typically home to Morocco.  In it's native country it's used for hair care, skincare and even in makeup like kohl eye liners.  When used in skincare, it can help with redness on the skin and acne, having a calming effect on the skin.

The Body Shop have also put together a guide to explain what argan oil is, they even sent the lovely Fleur de Force to Morocco to discover first hand what it is, and how it is used, there's a video embedded on their page with Fleur :)

I'm a big fan of The Body Shop, I love that their products aren't tested on animals and that they contain decent ingredients.  Their body butters are fantastic (their fruity ones are my favourites - Satsuma, Raspberry, Blueberry, Strawberry) and always a staple in my bathroom.  The next thing on my list to try is the Wild Argan body scrub since my current one is about to run out.

The Body Shop wish list

Body shop wish list

First off, before I get into this post, I just want to say sorry I've been away this past week or so - I was spending my evenings preparing for a job interview (didn't get the job), then I was ill, and then I was away for a long weekend and this is the first opportunity I've had to blog, so thought I'd come back with a list of things I've been lusting after from The Body Shop.

1 & 5 -  Mango & pink grapefruit body sorbet £8 each
I've seen these bouncing around on twitter and blogs, they sound nothing short of awesome.  They say it's light and fast absorbing, keeping your skin hydrated for up to 24 hrs.  They described it as "a breakthrough sorbet texture instantly melts into skin for a frosty burst of fresh moisture" - now that sounds like something I want to get my mitts on!

2 - Spa Fit Smoothing & Refining Scrub £14
Described as a zesty citrus scrub, with lemon and grapefruit, nom! I normally shower in the mornings and when I do, I love really citrusy scents, I'm convinced they help to wake me up :D  That aside I do love a good body scrub or polish, they always leave my skin feeling super smooth :)

3 - Honey body butter & body scrub £13 each
Honey is one of my favourite scents (and flavours!) and ever since these came out, I've had my eye on them.  The last Body Shop body butter I bought was the blueberry one, which I've nearly finished, I absolutely love it and I'm gutted I can't find it on their site :(  However, the honey one might be a great replacement - and I needn't bang on about the body scrub :)

4 - Raspberry body butter £13
Can you see a trend here? Yep, love body butters and scrubs - my favourite things from the body shop. Raspberries are one of my favourite fruits and I love how sweet they smell.  I can only imagine how amazing this must smell - I want it!

6 - Raspberry shower gel £4
You always need shower gel and I tend to get through my fair share of it, so I don't like spending too much money on it, otherwise I get really precious over it and use a really stingy amount.  This range is picked with early-harvest raspberries, and this shower gel is soap free :)

So there's my Body Shop wish list, what would be top of your list?

The Body Shop - shimmer cubes and lip balm

Body Shop Shimmer cube in Purple £16*, Body Shop lip balm in Plum £3

** Excuse my brows, they need some TLC **

Sadly, my photographs really didn't do these shimmer cubes justice!  I used all 4 colours on that look, and if you'd seen me in real life, you'd have seen them, I think I just didn't have the lighting quite right, still getting used to this new camera :)

Shimmer cubes
I really love these - it's like a palette with individually wrapped shadows (generous sizes at that!).  Each shadow comes in it's own case, and each of them fit into a bigger case (how neat!).  The pigmentation is good, but I would recommend using a primer (this is something I do every day anyway), and the staying power is really decent too.  They're not too sparkly, not full of glitter, but a soft pretty shimmer. I didn't really get much fall out with these either, which was very refreshing!  I have to say, these blend really nicely too.  If you have a bit of an 'edge' when applying, they blend out beautifully.

Plum lip gloss
This has become a bit of a favourite of mine.  I don't like balms that are too tinted, it's just not a good look for me, and this offers a very subtle colour.  The swatch above was me applying it quite a lot on my hand so that the camera would pick up the colour, it's certainly more than I'd apply to my lips.  The scent/taste is amazing, it's like plum meets cherry cola, YUMMY!  It keeps my lips hydrated really well, and I'm a little bit in love with the pop-art style packaging, love it!  I'd love to try it in lychee and toffee (nom!).

On a side note, when popping onto their site to get the links for the products, I've just seen they're doing a new Blueberry body butter and blueberry body scrub gelee! ERMERGHERD!  I'm obsessed with blueberries, I NEED THIS!!!!
