BOURJOIS | Summer Releases

While this might not be breaking news to some of you, I still think the Bourjois Summer line up is pretty exciting and wanted to share some of the pieces with you, as well as what I thought of them.

Bourjois are pretty much my favourite high street makeup brand.  The quality is fantastic, I think they're often overlooked by people in favour of other brands, but in my opinion, Bourjois is one of the most exquisite and luxurious high street makeup brands.

To kick off this post, lets take a little look at their summer lip offering.  The Rouge Edition Aqua Laque lipsticks.  They're liquid lipsticks which are very much like a stain in their texture (think like a watery gel with intense pigmentation).  You can see in the swatch underneath, the pigmentation on the red shades is impressive (the lighter shade isn't swatched, but shown on my lips underneath that pic).  The other shade is a 'your lips but better' shade, and is very beautiful, most definitely an every day colour, or one you could wear if you're really trying to draw attention to the eyes but don't want to ignore the lips :)  You can shop these at Boots.com for £8.99* each.

Next up, the La Laque nail polishes.  I really love the shape of these bottles, take 4 of them and you can make a little circle of them :)  Again, colour saturation is great.  You could probably get away with one good coat of this, although I have favoured 2 coats (I find nail polishes last better with that extra coat).  As much as I'm not typically one to wear white nail polish, I do think it's fab to put under paler or bright colours as it helps really make them pop.  You can shop these at Boots.com for £6.49* each.

Finally on to my favourite product, the Nude Sensation foundation in 41, Fair Nude.  On looking at this in the pot, I did think it was going to be too dark for me, but it's actually really lovely and works really well on very pale skin.  It blends in beautifully giving a soft matte almost-airbrushed finish on the skin (you can see me try it out in this video here)

I've found that it's lasted really well on the skin and surprisingly didn't show up my dry patches - whether this was down to good skin days or using a good primer first I don't know, but it's given me very happy skin :)  You can shop this at Boots.com for £9.99*.

Overall I've really liked this collection - all the products are great, but the ones that really stand out are the foundation, and the lip laque's - both really gorgeous.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION | Iconic Pro Lipsticks

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro lipsticks

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro lipsticks uncased
It's been a little while since I featured a Makeup Revolution product on here, so I thought I'd share these beauties with you as they particularly caught my attention.

Makeup Revolution have an 'Iconic Pro' series - and so far, everything I've experienced from this range, I've really loved - especially their Lorac Pro dupe, the Iconic 1 palette (so pretty!).  New to the Iconic Pro range are these lovely lipsticks.  They came in little matte black boxes, and the lipstick casing themselves resemble the MAC lipsticks in their shape, but with a glossy black finish and rose gold detailing - perfection!

The formula is very different from most of the lipsticks in my collection, and is fairly hard to describe... I'd say they're on the more sheer side, but with a soft buttery almost vinyl like texture/finish.  The range of shades is impressive (20 in all) and only cost £2.49 each, which really is fantastic.

Despite them being more on the sheer side, you can see it's not terribly hard to get good coverage out of them.  Of the shades I was sent, the pink (It eats you up) and the red (Duel) are my favourites and the ones I'd be most likely to wear again - I'm not really a fan of nudes that are lighter than my natural lip colour, they just don't suit me.

Again, the texture of these is really unique, very vinyl like, or even slightly waxy but more buttery than waxy - I really liked it.

If you'd like to take a peek at their full range, you can find their website here.

NEW BRAND | KISS COSMETICS

Kiss Cosmetics KISStick in Frisky Fuchsia

// excuse my imperfect skin, I don't believe in photoshopping //

An exciting new makeup brand is launching called Kiss Cosmetics.  Myself, along with a handful of other bloggers, have been working with them over the last year or so in the run up to their launch. I've been extremely lucky and I was sent one of their new releases to review, a lipstick (or KISStick as they're calling it) in Frisky Fuchsia - a gorgeous raspberry shade (there are 10 shades in the collection).  Price-wise they're similar to brands like Max Factor with this lipstick coming in at £7.00, putting it firmly in the middle of the high street.

The packaging feels really nice quality - it's sturdy and doesn't feel cheap.  At the base of the lipstick case there is a pot where you can see the shade (I like it when brands do this).  The lipstick is really well pigmented as well as being soft and buttery with a lovely sheen.  In the picture above I used my Karla Cosmetics lip brush to apply the lipstick and didn't need to layer it - this is how intense it was off the bat.  It wore really well, didn't bleed or go patchy, it just faded over time.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want lipstick to last on your lips, apply it with a lip brush, you get a nicer application and it'll last better.

I had no idea what to expect from KiSS cosmetics, how good their products would be, and yes, this is only one thing I've tried but I really have been impressed with this.  It's good quality both the packaging and the product, it smelled nice and lasted well, and in my opinion has a good price point too.  I can't wait to try more from the brand and can't wait to see what products they release.

The best part, in my opinion, other than the lovely quality of this product and the fair pricing is that ALL their products are cruelty free.  You don't find many brands that are high-street priced that can say that.  The brand launches on the week commencing 20th April - you'll be able to shop them online from then here.

Clarins Autumn makeup

New Clarins products for Autumn 2014

You may recall last week I posted about some amazing Clarins releases for this Autumn?  Well, I was a very lucky girl and the lovely people at Clarins sent me some of the products from their Autumn line up, and golly, did I get lucky!  You see the eye shadow in the pic above - yeah, it's pretty much my favourite eye shadow right now!

Anyway, instead of me rambling on in glee at how pretty these are, how about I talk like a normal non-squeeing person about them eh?

First up, the eye shadow primer.  It reminds me of the Urban Decay Eden primer, in that it has a skin colour which evens out your lids, as well as prime them ready for eye shadow.  I've used it every day this last week, with different eye shadows, not just the ones above and for quality I think it's pretty much on-par with Urban Decay too.  I get about the same amount of crease-free hours (about 6 - I have VERY oily lids) and it does create a lovely even base for my shadows to sit on.  However, for me and my extreme lids, I do still find the Smashbox 24 hr eye shadow primer lasts longer - but if you don't have terribly oily lids like me, this shouldn't be a problem (I think I'm a little unique in this respect)!

Next, the creme shadows.  The formula for these isn't like anything else I've experienced.  It feels and behaves like a powder, with the pigmentation and creaminess of a creme shadow - they really are very unique from anything I've ever tried.  I received three different shades: 05 sparkle grey, 02 nude pink and 06 earth.  All are gorgeous and play their different parts in their Autumn line-up.  The nude pink creates a beautiful base for a soft day look, the earth shade is perfect for a warm smokey look or all over brown, and lastly, my favourite, sparkle grey - the only shade which isn't really a matte, but has a soft shimmer, is a beautiful grey/gunmetal/taupe colour.

These shadows blend beautifully, especially sparkle grey, I absolutely love wearing this, it'll be perfect for Autumn.  These 'creme' shadows are the first ones I've used where I haven't applied a normal eye shadow over the top (normally, creme shadows crease on me within an hour) but because of their unique formula, they behave more like a shadow than a creme.

All in all I love all of these, especially the sparkle grey and earth ombre matte creme shadows, they're fantastic quality and the colours and pigmentation are amazing, I'll certainly be wearing these a lot over the cold months.
