PERFUME | Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume

Happy New Year everyone!  I know it's been a while since I posted, I succumbed to crochet... I started playing World of Warcraft again and I did get a nasty cold/cough too, so I took a little break from the blog.  Enough of all that though, did you have a nice Christmas?

Today I bring you a perfume post.  Now, this isn't just any perfume, nope, it's my first ever experience of Viktor & Rolf... their Flowerbomb.

Now I had high expectations... given the price tag (£69* for 50ml) and the name, I expected a beautiful delicate floral scent that would last all day.  I expected a beautiful bottle with a good spray.

Did it deliver?  Hell yes!  I adore the grenade shaped bottle, but of course, achieved a lot more elegantly than a grenade! And more importantly, the scent.  It's stunningly beautiful, it's elegant, delicately floral but also sweet, which I wasn't expecting, but pleasantly surprised with.  It lasts really well throughout the day - a few spritz in the morning and I can still smell it on me when I get home, without spritzing any more.

This has to be up there as one of my favourite scents, it's simply stunning, especially if you love a good sweet & floral scent :)

The Library of Fragrance

The Library of Fragrance

Going back about a year ago, an exciting new brand was gearing up for a big launch (which I'd been a little bit involved with), that brand is The Library of Fragrance.  It launched around the time I had Squidge, and as you can imagine, most things that happened in the world around that time passed me by.

They have a range of around 100 difference fragrances for you to pick from, each one being a single scent, so you can mix and match, layering scents to create your own unique and bespoke scent.

There's a massive range of scent types, from floral ones like the cherry blossom one I have and honeysuckle (my favourite ever scent in anything!), to mint choc chip ice cream (food scents) & marshmallow and even scents like Playdoh!  I can imagine that'll be one you want to sniff before you buy it!  From the two scents I have, I can say that they both smell just like their name, which only makes me want the honeysuckle one more :)

They're not quite as long wearing as my normal perfume (Lacoste Touch of Pink), I tend to spritz twice a day and that'll give me a nice fragrance for the bulk of the day, so not bad at all.  Each bottle is 30ml and costs £15, so fairly priced. Each of the scents can happily be worn alone too, that's how I wear the cherry blossom one (which is such a beautiful scent).

I think these would make a lovely collection, especially if you collect a range, so a few of the floral ones, or a few of the theme outdoors ones (i.e ocean, mountain air and salt air) and then layer them up for something really different.  I love the bottles too, they're really neat and angular which makes them really neat to organise.  All in all I've been really impressed with these and will definitely be expanding my collection!

You can find The Library of Fragrance for sale in Boots, and on their official website.

JO MALONE | Wood Sage & Sea Salt

Jo Malone perfume, boxed with a bow

Jo Malone perfume in the box

Jo Malone perfume, unboxed

Until this bottle landed on my doorstep, I was a Jo Malone virgin and I can very proudly say, now I'm not :)  There's so much hype in the blogging world with Jo Malone fragrance, I knew they were very special and not for the budget buyer, but never smelling one, I didn't know what the fuss was about.

When I opened the envelope to reveal the box, I loved just how simple and sophisticated the packaging was, I knew it had to be something special inside. When I reached in and took the lid off the cologne, and read the 'Wood Sage & Sea Salt' I couldn't possibly imagine what the scent would be like.  When I opened the lid and spritzed myself, I was really pleasantly surprised.  It's delicately sweet, floral and aromatic, really smelling like the freshness of the sea.

Tasting notes
Top: Ambrette Seeds
Heart: Sea Salt
Base: Sage

You definitely get the dryness and warmth of the sage coming through too - I'm guessing the main note I can smell is the Ambrette Seeds which remind me of a musky, almost patchouli sort of scent (very pleasant).  I love how earthy and wholesome this smells, while still smelling elegant, feminine and both slightly sweet and floral.  As much as I try to describe this scent, I think Jo Malone describe it the best:

"Escape the everyday along the windswept shore.
Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray.
Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs.
Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage.
Lively, spirited and totally joyful."

I honestly think that describes the scent beautifully.  If you're ever within walking distance of a Jo Malone fragrance, I urge you to have a wiff, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with just how lovely this is (plus, in Fleur de Forces' latest video, she'd mentioned she had been wearing this scent too) ;)

If you're not able to get to a stockist, you can shop the perfume here - the 30ml bottle (pictured) is £40.

Bargains with Cosme-De

Happy Anniversary Cosme-De
If you're a regular reader of Makeup-Pixi3 you might well know I've worked with the lovely people over at Cosme-de on quite a few occasions over the past year, most recently on the Benefit lip gloss giveaway I hosted for them.

Well the brand has just turned 7 years old (awwww) and to celebrate they have a big offer on where you can buy lot of their products at discount prices.

I was also a very lucky little blogger and was sent some treats to try out (squeee!).  Possibly my favourite has been the perfume Lady Million by Paco Robanne, I can't get over how amazing this smells.  It's sweet and slightly floral but not overpowering or sickly with either scent.  I think this might be the most beautiful scent in my collection, overtaking the #1 spot which was previously Touch of Pink by Lacoste - this just smells so much more refined, but so wearable as an every day scent. I love the unusual bottle too - it doesn't stand upright, which makes it quite different from others.

Lady Million by Paco Robanne

Another iconic product that Cosme-de are selling is the moisturiser Embryolisse - you know the one loved by models and makeup artists.  Well, while this isn't a big old review of it, I can give you a bit of a first impression.  I've been using it for about a week (this is why it's not a full on review).  Since using it my skin has been feeling so lovely and soft.  I did have some dry patches cropping up on my cheeks, but this has really helped stave that off and make it hydrated again.  It's currently discounted to $19 on Cosme-de which is around the £13 mark so not a bad price at all.
Embryolisse

Last and by no means least, is the Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Awakening Balm (what a mouthful!). It's a beautiful soft pink lip balm in a lipstick form. It gives your lips a beautiful soft pink glow that looks really natural, kind of 'your lips but better' which makes it go well with pretty much any makeup look your'e going for (unless you're going for a bold lip!). My lips have felt really hydrated when I've been using this - it's not greasy either, it's soft and buttery.  This is currently $26 on Cosme-de, which is around the £17 mark.

All these products are part of their 7th anniversary discount selection - you can see their full range here if you want to bag yourself a bargain.  If you plan on buying a couple of things an spending over £110 ($169) you could also pick up Frances the teddy bear as an anniversary freebie (order needs to be in by 6th May

Versace Eros Pour Femme Review & Giveaway

Versace Eros Pour Femme perfume

Versace Eros perfume lid

Versace have released a 'pour femme' version of their renowned Eros scent.  The packaging is simply luxurious and stunning.  It doesn't come in the standard box packaging, but a drawer you pull out to reveal the perfume.  The round glass bottle is adorned with gold coloured metal on the front and back that match the lid.

The scent is done I'd describe as being an evening scent, it's strong, bold and packs an elegant punch. It really is as stunning as the packaging - since I had this, I haven't worn another perfume, this might just be an alternative favourite of mine, I know the hubby really likes it too :)  One thing I really like about it is how long the scent lasts when you're wearing it - I must get a good 6-8 hrs out of it.  If I spray it on my scarf, I'll still be able to smell it when I go to wear it the next day too, but much more subtle.  The main notes I pick out from this are the warmth of vanilla, and a beautiful floral scent - it really is stunning.  It is very strong when you first spritz it, but it does settle down after a few minutes.

If you're interested in buying this, and I completely understand if you are! here's where you can pick it up :)  The lovely people over at House of Fraser have gifted me a second bottle to giveaway!! So to be in with a chance of winning, just complete the Rafflecopter widget below :)

Valentines gift ideas from Cosme-de

Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream gift set

Marc Jacobs Honey perfume box

Marc Jacobs Honey perfume
The good people over at Cosme-de are having a themed Valentines promotion at the moment, with products both for couples, and singletons!

They've included a range of products in their promotion which have up to 60% off (mostly perfumes/aftershaves, and a couple of skincare gift sets).  They also have free shipping on every order, so there's no hidden costs :)

For all you lovely single peeps out there, they've also created a page on their site called 'My Bloody Valentine' lol - you basically click the playing card for a discount code - however it only applies to orders of over $150, so for it to be of use you'd have to order yourself a few treats - but that is on top of the 60% discount , so if you shop smartly you could get some real bargains :)

Honey - Marc Jacobs - £39 for 50ml (22% off)
This is my first Marc Jacobs perfume - I wanted to try something which was different from the usual scents that I go for (sweet or spicy) - this is just lovely.  It's a mixture of the sweetness of honey, with the signature floral scent of the Daisy range, keeping it smelling quite fresh, but with a sweet edge. I also love the bottle, with the cute little accents on the side, very cute!

Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra Nourishing Hand-Therapy Set - £20 (36% off)
I'm a big fab of Crabtree & Evelyn hand creams, they're fantastic quality, very hydrating and smell really good (the pomegranate one is my favourite!).  This set includes 6 of their hand creams in 25g tubes.  It's a lovely giftset, especially for C&E fans :)

They also have a game you can play where you can find discount codes (make sure you do this first, before placing an order) :)

Which of these would you love to receive for Valentines?

Jimmy Choo Star perfume

Jimmy Choo Star perfume

Just recently I've been branching out in the perfumes I wear.  Typically in the day I'll wear Lacoste Touch of Pink, or Lacoste for Women - these are my 'go to' scents.  While these are 'sweet' scents, I also harbour a love of spicy evening scents, like Lagerfeld's Sun, Moon, Stars (an old favourite of mine).

Jimmy Choo Star is a combination of both.  It has sweet scents of toffee (very easy to pick out), the warm spice of sandlewood (you'll pick this out too) and the musk of patchouli (my mother-in-law informed me that this is a very 'hippy' scent).  Those with fine tuned noses will also pick up tiger orchid and candid orange.

The bottle is reminiscent of a rose gold/toffee grenade, and typical of the Jimmy Choo perfume bottle style.

It's a very strong perfume, you really don't need to spray much of it, 1-2 sprays at most and it'll last for hours and hours - always a mark of a good fragrance.

The people over at Cosme-de are actually having a perfume Christmas promotion.  The perfumes included have:
  • up to 50% off high-street prices
  • all perfume orders will receive samples of 3 other scents
  • all orders qualify for free gift wrapping in time for Christmas :)
What's more, each person that orders fragrance will be entered in a sweepstake to win one of the following prizes:
  • SK-II luxury suite (worth $600)
  • Dior luxury bundle (worth $400)
  • $100 cash voucher
Plus 5 x $25 vouchers to random customers.  The promotion runs up until the 26th December, so there's still time to bag a fragrance and enter the draw :)

Yesterday, today & tomorrow

#AngelAddiction - Yesterday, today and tomorrow

A slightly different post for me today, a lifestyle post.  When something big happens in your life, one of those big events, it's a time when you evaluate where your life is going, where it's been and where you are, and ultimately if you're happy where you are and where it's going.

Needless to say, where I am right now and where it's going, I couldn't be happier with.  The people over at Angel perfume,Thierry Mugler have challenged bloggers to create a moodboard that encapsulates your most cherished addictions, both from the past, present and future.

The top strip of the image reflects my past, Sooty was one of my most cherished childhood addictions, I was obsessed with him! I used to cry if he was told off, I used to cry when the show was over, and when I was little my mum took me to the theatre to see Sooty, I remember being so happy then :)  Then there's the stargazer lilly, a flower obsession that started when I was 15 and got my first job, working as a Saturday girl in a flower shop.  I discovered how beautiful these were, and how amazing they smell.

My present - well, my cat is a big part of my life, she's been a staple in it for the past 9 years and I hope she'll be in it for at least another 9 years.  She's certainly a character, she doesn't like other people, she's not friendly with others, but she's really affectionate with the hubby and I and just wants to be near us all the time, very cute.  Then we have an image of My Neighbour Totoro, probably my favourite Studio Ghibli film - the image represents my love of Studio Ghibli and their animation style, their beautiful details illustrations and fantastical stories.  I really hope that Squidge will grow up loving these too.

Next, my future.  It's going to be an obvious one, my future is these two, my baby and my husband. My life revolves around them and I wouldn't have it any other way.  Squidge is now 7 weeks old and coming on in leaps and bounds, and this Christmas (Dec 16th) will see the other half and I being together for 13 years (married for 6).  It's been a hell of a year, mostly horrendous and I have to say, I can't wait to see the back of it - but having Squidge and getting pregnant was the diamond in the rough, I guess that's life balancing itself out, if only it wasn't at such great emotional expense.

What does the future hold? Who knows, I hope it holds us raising a happy and healthy baby boy, moving to a bigger house to allow us to have baby number 2 and all of us being happy and healthy, that's about all I can wish for :)

What are your most cherished memories and what are you most looking forward to about the future? What are your #AngelAddictions?

Michael Kors perfume in Sexy Amber

Michael Kors perfume in Sexy Amber
Michael Kors perfume in the scent Sexy Amber 100ml £75*

Behold!  A new perfume!  I like perfume as much as the next girl, but I'm a bit fussy over what type of scents I like, and for what occasions.

Containing notes of musk, orange, sandalwood and white florals, this is a pretty spicy but beautiful scent.  It comes in a tall glass bottle, with the signature gold lid and embossed MK logo.

It's a really long wearing perfume, I've worn it both in the day and at night, and I have to say, it suits evening much better given it's spiciness.   Each time I've worn it, I've still been getting 'wiffs' of it hours and hours after without the need to reapply.  I've also had quite a few compliments when wearing it (a lot of them being from the hubby, he loves it on me!).

As much as I love fresh, sweet and fruit scents for Spring/Summer in the day time, I love a deep spicy fragrance for the Summer evenings, and I think this'll be perfect.  Although I have the 100ml, it is available in much smaller sizes to keep it more purse-friendly too (from as little as £37 from Superdrug)

So if you're feeling like treating yourself to something special for the coming months, you might want to have a spritz of this next time you're in Superdrug/Debenhams etc to see if you like it, personally, I love it :)

DKNY Be Delicious City Blossom in Rooftop Peony

dkny be delicious city blossom in rooftop peony

dkny perfume
rooftop peony
DKNY Be Delicious City Blossom in Rooftop Peony - £37* for 50ml

I typically stay away from fruity scents, but this one, this one is different.  It's part of their limited edition Spring collection City Blossom and this little baby here, it's called Rooftop Peony.  In it you'll smell notes of rose, mandarin and amber.  It's not just fruity like you'd expect, but also sweet and floral.

I normally stick to my trusty sweet scents like Lacoste Touch of Pink (which I adore), but you know what, I've had more compliments wearing this, and I think I've ever had in the years I've been wearing Lacoste.  This one's even been a hit with the hubby, every time I've worn it he's complimented me saying 'oooooh you smell nice!', so I think it's a confirmed hit!  It's so perfect for Spring/Summer too, it's fresh and airy, delicate and pretty.

It comes in the typical packaging (like an apple) but the perfume is pink coloured.  The box is stunning too with watercolour effect petals painted on the outside, it's like blossom falling off the trees :)

It's an absolutely gorgeous scent, one I've found myself reaching for above my favourites day-in-day-out.  If you're in Boots go over and have a spray and see what you think :)

Emporio Armani diamonds

Empiroi Armani Diamonds
Armani Diamonds - c/o Fragrance Direct

In its brilliant cut bottle, reminiscent of a solitaire diamond - this has quickly become a bit of a go-to fragrance for me.  I'm not sure anything will shift my Lacoste - Touch of pink perfume from being the first thing I reach for, however, this has become a close 2nd.

Out of the main scent classes (sweet, fruity, spicy and floral) I'd say this is definitely a sweet one, with floral undertones - although the website describes it as floral and fruity - maybe my sniff is off :)  The scent lasts for hours before needing a respray which is great in my books as I don't usually carry fragrance with me, I just spray in the morning before I leave for work.

There's no denying that the bottle is gorgeous, I'd say its one of my favourites.  I love the spray mechanism too - it sprays the perfume in a really broad spectrum and quite a lot too - so you don't need to spray too many times.

This is a beautiful fragrance, it's elegant and strong but without being overpowering, I always feel so glamorous when I wear it - something my go-to perfume doesn't.

What's your favourite perfume?

Christmas gift guide #1 Georgio Armani luxury fragrance collection

Armani perfume gift set

Georgio Armani luxury gift set close up

Georgio Armani perfume anyone?  This lovely little set is from Fragrance Direct and will set you back £21.99*.  It contains 4 luxury samples of some of Armani's most loved fragrances.  Included in the set (from left to right) is the spicy Armani Code (3ml), Diamonds (5ml), Acqua di Gioia (5ml), Diamonds rose (5ml) in their miniature shaped bottles.

It comes presented in a beautiful box with a hard plastic wrap around sleeve that tells you which perfume is which :)

Depending on your purse strings this could either make a great stocking filler if you're feeling a little plush, or it could make a lovely gift for a friend or even your mother.  There's a lovely range of notes in this set, from spicy, to floral, to subtle, to sweet, so something for anyone.

I'm still not sure which of these is my favourite scent, if you pushed me now, I'd probably say Armani Code as it's such a nice scent for this time of year.  I'm a big fan of Sun, Moon, Stars by Karl Lagerfeld and this is fairly similar, perhaps slightly less strong, which is a good thing!

If you'd like to see more details about this, visit the Fragrance Direct website here :)

August haul

Yep, you read that right, I've been buying shizz again!  Yep, and I said shizz... you'd be surprised how much I say that in real life...

Anyway, in two days I've hauled twice, so I'll show you both hauls, here's the first one.

The lovely Fragrance Direct came to my office (DANGER!) and sold mostly perfume, this is when I tend to stock up and have done it this way over the last two years.  Most of my perfumes are nearing the end now so instead of replacing them all, I was a good girl and bought only one new one, and a little extra treat for my face!  I knew I wanted the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream too - and as I went to pick it up, I was steered in the direction of a set which was only a couple of pounds more, but included a lip protector and a small intensive daily moisturiser.

Well I used the skin protectant (the big tube) last night, it's like a really thick gel, felt strange on my face, but I did have very soft skin the next day and a couple of patches which had been itchy and threatening to break out (eczema) have disappeared!  We'll see what it's like longer term, but first impressions are good at least - now on the daily moisturiser!

So, today (by the time you'll be reading this, it'll be yesterday!) I popped into Superdrug, not intending to buy anything and walked out with a lot of products (and by walked out, I mean paid for at the till). Three of which were complete impulse buys, well... they all were.

Here's what I bought.

** Just showing these out of the packaging in reunited with 'Quenched' which I received ages ago in a makeup swap **

I was really undecided if I was going to purchase any of the Baby Lips, purely because I never really liked 'Quenched', the taste is just not nice, tastes like vaseline and that's not a taste I like, but they looked so pretty and colourful (and were conveniently placed at the till and on offer (3 for 2)) that I just had to have them!  Ok, well I didn't have to but I wanted them.  And, first impressions are I'm glad I bought them!  Wearing one of them now (Cherry Me - the orange one) and I really like it, tastes better and smells awesome!

Next up my NYC haul, I'd heard good things about their foundation and since it was on offer for £3.99 I couldn't say no, team that with the bronzer (not sure if this is the old 'sunny' bronzer), it's the lightest one they had and I fear it'll still be too dark, but will give it a go all the same, that was £2.99.  And to go with it, it would have been rude not to pick up an eye shadow quad right?  Well, I remember Emily Noel talking about their quads with the patchwork emboss and she really didn't like them, so I stuck to the normal quads and picked up a neutral one in the shade Picnic in Central Park (how cute!).  I've swatched them on the back of my hand and they look really beautiful, will be wearing all of this tomorrow!

Next up two other randoms.  A new girl at work has amazing eye liner and it looks beautifully matte, so on enquiring which one it was, it was this Collection Fast Stroke, it was on offer for £4 so I thought I'd give it a try.  I'm not holding up any hope at all, you all know how oily my eye lids are and how nothing really tames them like my Chanel Ecriture, but I'll try it tomorrow, lets just hope by 2pm I don't have a black faded line transferred across my lid, that ain't pretty.  On my way to till I spotted this new Rimmel mascara too, let it be known, this is my first Rimmel mascara!  I know, terrible!  *slaps my wrists* It has a really odd wand, I'll show you when I do the full review, but I'll be giving this a road test tomorrow as well!

One of my favourite things about this haul (all the makeup, not the fragrance direct haul) is how cheap it all was, only just over £20 and for all that is really impressive! I mean, I have enough for a full face of makeup, mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, bronzer, foundation, lip balm - awesome!

Wow, this may be one of the longest posts I've ever written!

Molecule 01

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're familiar with Fleur de Force and Gemsmaquillage.  These are the people responsible for me knowing what Molecule 01 is.  So when I was approached by Cult Beauty to see if I'd like to review a bottle, I jumped at the chance :)

They say "Escentric Molecules' Molecule 01 is created solely from the aroma-chemical Iso E Super, traditionally a perfume basenote that adds allure to a scent, which works as more of an effect than a fragrance. The scent has a subtle, velvety, woody note which will meld with your natural pheromones, vanish, then re-surface after some time, making it totally individual and personalised to the wearer. You will rarely smell this fragrance on yourself, Molecule 01 perfume is more about the effect it has on others."

My Thoughts

This has been one of the most exciting things to land on my door mat.  I may have squealed a little as I ripped open the packaging to reveal this little beauty waiting for me.

Developed by Escentric Molecules, this little bottle of fragrance is made up of one ingredient, Iso E Super.  Iso E Super has a sort of woody/musky scent when you first spray it, then after a couple of minutes you won't really smell it again, apart from the odd whiff during the day.

One thing I really did notice is how many compliments from people I have when wearing this (they were all from women!).  I had so many people say 'you smell lovely' or 'what perfume are you wearing' and they all seemed to really like it.  My husband wasn't as keen, but he's the only person I met who didn't like it :)  The molecule is supposed to react with your pheromones to create a unique scent, but a scent that only others will smell on you.  I asked my friends to describe it, some said floral and some said sweet, but they all liked it :)

If you're interested in picking this up, Cult Beauty were one of the first places to start selling this - the size I received was the travel size (about £27), you can pick up the full size for £65.50 on their site here.

All in all I really like this fragrance, and who doesn't like getting lots of compliments :)  Have you tried Molecule 01?

Perfume - My favourites

Hey everyone!  Hope you've all had the most amazing weekend?  I wanted to do a slightly different post, a scent-scual one if you will *wink*

I thought I'd share with you, my favourite perfumes in all their deliciousness!

First up, Vera Wang - Princess - I looooooove this perfume, it's the perfect mix of sweet, very sweet with a bit of spice - oooh la la!

Next, I give you, Sun Moon Stars by Karl Largerfeld - I've loved this since it came out about 17 years ago. Back then, everything in my bedroom was Sun Moon Stars, so I was super excited when they brought out a perfume of the design :)  The scent is divine, it's very spicy and you don't need to spray much of it, maybe 2-3 well placed squirts on your pulses and you'll be fragrant all day :)  Also, if you hold the bottle up to the light it looks beautiful :)

And finally, my every day perfume - Lacoste - Touch of Pink - this is the perfect every day scent, I put it on in the morning, and have a spritz late afternoon - it's a deliciously sweet scent, it's so pretty!

Hope you enjoyed my new pictures on snazzy back drops :)  What's your favourite perfume?  And, when do you wear it?
