6 Nail polishes for Easter

After buying some little fluffy chicks to be in my blog photo's yesterday, I found myself feeling very festive today and thought I'd put together a post on Easter nail polishes, with a little nail art - now, I'm by no way a professional, but I like to tinker with nail art - so be gentle!

The nail polishes I picked are:
Essie - Cascade Cool
GOSH - Apple Bloom
Essie - Mint Candy Apple
GOSH - Sunkissed
Crabtree & Evelyn - Raspberry/Fuchsia
M&S Limited - Pale Peach

To create the nail art I used the Avon tool in the picture - it's only £3 and while I realise I chopped the ends off so you can't see them - it's a double ended tool - one end is a brush, the other a dotting tool. You can get as creative as your imagination will take you, even creating what look like decorative easter eggs - that's actually the intention when I started these, but I went a little polka dot crazy :P

Now that my nails are starting to grow back I'm starting to wear polish again, so I'm getting all excited planning my next creations, if only I had the skill to meet my ideas!

Top 3 nail polishes for Summer

Happy Thursday! I hope you've been enjoying my Summer series :)  So far we've covered blushers, foundations and today it's the turn for nail polish!  Oh, and lets not forget the Summer TAG I created that went live yesterday too :)

Personally I tend to stay away from dark colours in the Summer.  When it's all warm and perfect for summer dresses, I tend to lean towards brights or pastels, which is where this little selection comes from.

Essie Cascade Cool

I really adore this pink for many reasons, first off, it looks like strawberry or raspberry ice cream, yummy!  It looks amazing on any skin tone, and I love the quality of it.  It's great at disguising ridges and almost giving your nails a fake look, like they're perfect and glued on :P  It lasts really well, very long wearing before chipping and as with all Essie nail polishes, the applicator is decent too.

M&S Limited Collection in Pale Peach

Such a pretty shade!  I love having this on my nails, it looks great with really pale skin like mine and despite it's budget price (around £2 if I recall) it lasts really well and has a decent price.  Here's a tip, if you have this shade, or one like it, get hold of Chloe by Zoya - it's the perfect top coat for it - it's coral with holographic sheer fragments in it, very very pretty.

Tanya Burr nail polish in Little Duck

Ok, not only does this have a very cute little name but it's an absolutely gorgeous colour that makes me really happy to look at :)  I'm not a big fan of glitter polishes anymore, just because they're a nightmare to remove, that's why you'll find that most of my favs are cream shades.  Teal nail polishes are probably my favourites, or shades like Essie's mint candy apple - they're all gorgeous!  They make your hands look summery and pretty and personally, they just put me in a better mood as I see them moving across my keyboard while I'm writing blog posts or tweeting.

So there you have it, my top 3 nail polishes for Summer!  Whilst this series is pretty much at an end (for now), I will be doing another series in a few weeks which will be similar, but looking at other products like eye shadows and lipsticks etc, I hope you've enjoyed it :)

Essie off the shoulder

You know when you find a brand, and you really struggle to find any flaws in any of their products? Well, that's me with Essie.  I've built up quite a nice little collection of their polishes, and funnily enough my favourite of which has to be their amazing top coat - it's worth it's weight in gold.  Well, now I have a new addition to my little Essie family, and that's the shade 'Off the shoulder', I love the names they give polishes (bit like OPI) and I'm not really sure where they were going with this name, maybe sunburn?  Anyway, I digress!

Like all Essie nail polishes you'll need a good two coats, but when you've added both coats and a nice glossy top coat, people are going to think you're wearing lovely perfect false nails.  That's the reaction I get with Essie polishes.  They're thick and creamy and when they set they're highly glossy - at least with their top coat they are.  I have a couple of different pink Essie shades now, like Cascade Cool (a slightly lighter shade than this one) and really love them.  Sadly I have gel nails on at the moment as my nails have decided to hate me and go really weak.  But, when they're a bit stronger this little baby will be pride of place on them!

So, sadly I can't comment if this particular shade is any more durable than their others, but if my past Essie experience is anything to go by, it should last you a good 3-7 days with a good top coat on fairly strong nails.  You'll get about 2 days out of it if your nails are weak - at least, that's the experience I've had with their other polishes.  This is such a great colour for Summer, and kinda perfect for toes too, especially toes in the beach :)

Essie Penny Talk

Hey everyone!  So, Essie have launched a new part of their collection, metallics!  Whoop whoop!  I picked one up the other day when I was in Boots, I immediately feel in love with their 'rose gold' coloured one, which is actually called Penny Talk - pitched as a Copper colour, but I beg to differ.

My Thoughts

First impressions are WOWZER!  Stunning colour, really pretty.  I can't say anything about how well it lasts as I haven't worn it for any length of time, but if it's up to the standard of their other polishes, then I'm sure we'll get a good 2-3 days out of it with a top coat of course.  I will say sorry for the quality of my photo's too, it was done in daylight, but fading daylight, so not as good as normal.  Anyway, not a whole lot to say about it, other than it was £7.99 in Boots too :)

Essie Nail Polish - Fiji

Hey everyone!  So, I have a new found love in the nail world!  I thought I'd treat myself to an Essie nail polish since I've heard such great things about them, and my local Boots seemed to have an amazing selection.  I picked up the colour Fiji (14), I was on the lookout for a sort of, ballet pink, but on the white side of it and this was just perfect.

As for durability, it's decent, without a top coat it lasts about 2 days without chipping.  I think it was £7.99 if I remember correctly, somewhere close to that anyway :)

I now feel compelled to try more of their colours :)  Any recommendations?
