Project B September box

Project B - 9 month box - September

the pampered chef microfibre towel

Its that time of the month once again to review the Project B box, this time for September.  I believe this will be my last Project B review as it's designed to go through your pregnancy stages with you, and I've reached the final hurdles of mine, so this is the box for month 9 of your pregnancy (35-39 weeks).

Each box is given a theme, and this theme is 'nest'.  Something pregnant women often feel is the urge to nest, and this isn't necessarily in the last trimester of your pregnancy although that's typically when you're getting the last bits and bobs ready for your little ones arrival (I can confirm this!).  While this might not be the most exciting of the boxes I've had, it certainly is the most practical.

Eco2Life Cleaning spray and Refill
I have to admit, I've never seen anything like this before.  An empty spray bottle which you add the bottle of 'small wonder' cleaning product to - and fill the bottle with water.  I really like the idea of only having to buy the little refills for it, it saves on the amount of plastic used, which is a great thing.

The pampered chef microfibre towel
While I haven't used it yet, I can vouch for how soft it is.  They say it's super absorbent and ideal for cleaning up after the baby and drying bottles.

NO-GERMS Instant hand sanitiser
This is 100% alcohol free.  It kills 99.9& of germs for 2-4 hrs each use and it dries in under 12 seconds.  It's also infused with lavender, chamomile and aloe vera to help keep your hands hydrated.

Spontex Washups
These are pretty self explanatory really :)  We've actually been buying these for years, but the scratch free version that you can use on saucepans etc.  These are great multi-surface cleaners and are great at scrubbing up stubborn areas.

Yes! Nurse's hand formula
This is one for people who's hands are constantly being washed - I used to work in a hospital (for about a year, in theatres) and I can confirm that nurses hands get VERY dry - a mix of being washed all the time and in latex gloves the rest of the time.  This actively hydrates, is fast absorbing and is non-greasy.

Weleda Calendula lotion
An award winning product made with natural organically grown plants.  It's free from synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colourants and any raw material derived from mineral oils.

Unfortunately there weren't any prices included in the box so I can't really work out what the total value of the box is, but the full box was £14.  If you're interested in signing up for a Project B box, you can do that on their website here.

Project B August box - Prepare

Project B August
Project B August box

If you're not familiar with Project B, it's a monthly subscription box aimed at mums-to-be like me. So, if you're a mum-to-be or if you have a friend who is expecting, this could be a lovely treat.

This months theme is 'prepare' and aimed at mums-to-be who are 30-34 weeks pregnant, cue me.  Lets take a look at what was in the August box :)

Deep Freeze pain relief cold patch
This is a self-adhesive cooling patch which provides pain relief to the affected area for up to 3 hours. I can see this being used on my lower back when I'm in labour/being induced.  It can be used at any stage of pregnancy, but I think I'll save this beauty for the hospital.

Laboraide
Described as a new, innovative natural birthing device to help reduce pain and the duration of labour. It's basically like a mouth-guard and works by relaxing the jaw and keeping the mouth open, which then eases the neck and shoulders all the way down to the core muscles.  (worth £19.99)

Nature breast pads
I'm probably right in thinking this happens to all mums-to-be/mums - but during the latter stages of pregnancy and after having the baby, breasts leak milk and most mums wear little pads in their bras to prevent the milk from leaking through their bra and top.  I've not had any leakages yet but I have plenty of pads at the ready for when it does happen.  These come individually wrapped and have some adhesive on to help them stay in place.

Divine milk chocolate caramel bar
Is it sad to think this was one of the things I was most excited about in the box? Firstly because Divine is one of my favourite brands of chocolate, secondly because I love chocolate and caramel and thirdly because well... I can't have chocolate now because of the gestational diabetes, so this is something now in my cupboard waiting until I've had the baby :D  If you didn't know, Divine is a farmer-owned Fairtrade company using the best cocoa from Ghana.  It's seriously amazing chocolate that I've been buying for years :)

Nursing Oil by Weleda
They say that massaging the breasts for the last two weeks before birth will help promote circulation in the tissue which helps to stimulate milk production.  So my plan, to do just this, with this which will hopefully help my milk production :)

TENA Lights
About 69% of pregnant and new mums experience 'little leaks' - I can confirm this :/  These are designed for light leaks and are only 3.5 mm thick.  Whilst it's embarrassing to admit, I really should try these as I've definitely been leaking a little, which is perfectly normal.

Extras
Also inside the box was a little handbag size pack of Femfresh wipes, 3 individually wrapped pukka tea bags, a lipgloss and nail varnish, as well as some liquid iron and a Weleda Citrus hydrating body lotion :)

Project B - Box 4

Project B

My first project b box

Project B - Box 4

This is one for my pregnant friends.  Who knew this existed?  A monthly subscription box just for pregnant women, how great!  This is my first box from Project B, it retails for £14* a month and inside is an assortment of products aimed at mums-to-be, from pampering products to little treats and stretch mark cream.  Lets take a look and see what was in this box.

St Eval tranquility candle - £8.95
This candle is a blend of lavender, orange and ylang ylang with a burning time of up to 45 hrs.  Lets face it, us mum-to-be need to take advantage of every last minute of relaxation we can, because once the baby comes, that'll all be a long distant memory.

Pregnancy relaxation CD (giftcard) - £10
In the box was a little card (credit card sized) which is a voucher for a relaxation CD or MP3.  It claims to help with the fear of labour, to be calmer and more relaxed, prepared for birth, reduce labour pain and feel more in control.  Well, I haven't activated this voucher yet so can't comment on this, but it's a lovely addition, nice to see something different :)

Balm Balm rose geranium face balm - £7
This is a 30ml bottle of face cream (and more!) which is 100% organic, and after having a look at the list of ingredients I can't see anything nasty on there, whoop!

Eisberg alcohol-free wine - Rose - £3.69 (approx)
This wine contains less than 0.005% alcohol and in a 125ml glass, contains about 34 cals, not bad eh! Apparently they use some super-duper advanced techniques to remove the alcohol and preserve the great flavours.  Well, I haven't tried this yet so can't comment, I'm a little nervous it'll give me bad heartburn, but I think I should jump in and give it a go :)

BLOOM heartwarming rooibos tea - £4-5
They say BLOOM teas are designed to support your body's changing needs.  This tea combines rooibos and cinnamon and is best to be drunk in the afternoon.  It's also caffeine free which makes it perfect for drinking during pregnancy.

Palmer's Stretch Mark cocoa butter - sample size
A lovely 50ml sample which I've just sat and had a sniff of, omg it smells awesome, like white chocolate! Think I'll be putting this on my bump tonight :D

Weleda pomegranate firming day cream - sample size
This is a little 7ml sample from the power house of skincare that is Weleda!  It says to avoid the eye area, and that it's great at protecting aging skin - I haven't tried this yet, but I'll let you know what I think when I do :)

Bio Oil - sachet samples
There was also 2 little sachets of bio oil in the box.  Since being pregnancy and looking at bump creams, this is probably the one I see people talking about most often, so I'm excited to try this out!

Nakd apple crunch bar - about 75p each
I think most people are familiar with with nakd bars by now, I've only tried one before which was the strawberry one.  My first bite of this... well, I didn't like it.  But the more of it I had the more I liked it. By the time it was gone, I wanted more!

There was also a little PG tips sample in there, two teabags, one was green tea and the other juice red berries and a 50p off voucher :)

If you're pregnant and fancy treating yourself, you can sign up for a Project B box over on their website, it costs £14 a month :)
