Saffron London

Hey Pixi3's!  A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a giveaway of 2 eye shadow palettes from Glitter the Rose, I won an MUA one, and this one, whoop whoop!

I'll be honest, I hadn't paid this Saffron one much attention, until now.

This palette doesn't have a name from what I can tell, it's just a green one :)

I love that their products aren't tested on animals, always a big plus in my books.  As you can see, the colours range from white to lime green and then through more mossy greens to a green/brown.  Great colours, personally I love wearing green eyeshadow's, especially deep mossy ones, not sure sure about the lime one (for me) but the others are lovely.

My Thoughts

The shadows feel very densely packed (unlike MUA palettes where the shadows tend to feel fairly loose - that's not necessarily a bad thing).  The pigmentation is fantastic, I swatched each of these shades with ease.  Each shadow has a bit of a gold shimmer to it, which goes beautifully with the green but it would have been nice to see something a little different too.  I couldn't find any mention of a price on their website, but I was under the impression they're in the same price range as the MUA palettes.  I'm not so keen on the packaging, I think it cheapens the product which is a shame as they have such a good range.

As for the texture, it's a bit strange... there's like, little fibres in it, almost like cotton wool which I don't like.  They're not the easiest to blend either... I feel very mixed about these.  On one hand, the colours are amazing, but on the other hand, the quality just isn't there.  I think, these days it's pretty easy for brands to make pigmented eye shadows, where the challenge is, is in making the quality of the product be great.  For a lot of brands that's the sink or swim, and I think here Saffron have sunk :(

Have you ever tried any of their products before?  Did you like them?

MUA nail polish haul

Hey guys!  First off, I bought these before 'No-buy October' started :)  Quite a few things I have yet to share with you that I bought before October began ;)

A couple of weeks ago, I went onto the MUA online shop when they were offering up 3 love hearts items with each order, I bought... quite a few things, nail polishes were part of it :)  I picked up these three, they're part of their new collection and I just love the colours!  Sadly, my nails are in no condition to actually show you the polishes on my nails, but I haven't bitten them for a week now, so they're heading back in the right direction!

Here's the 3 shades I picked up for £1 each, bargain!

As you can see, I've had a bit of fun with different filters, hope you like it :)

The shades I picked up were Amaretto Crush, Stormy Skies and Plum Noir.

One thing I really love about MUA polishes is the price, I mean, unless they're rubbish quality, which they aren't, you can't go wrong for £1!  Yes the bottles are smaller, but lets face it, I don't think many of us get to the end of a bottle of polish unless it's base/top coat.  They're also surprisingly good quality, it only takes 2 coats to get really flawless coverage, and that's better than my Chanel ones!  The only negative is the brush, it's quite splayed out and can drag the polish a bit, but hey, you could always use the brush of a used up old polish if you don't like it much.  Personally I just use the one it comes with, it's not too bad ;)  Again, for £1 each, you can't expect everything to be great ;)

Have you bought any of the new shades?  Which is your favourite?

No-buy October Week 2 Sumary

Hey guys!  So week 2 of No-Buy October is now over, so officially half way through :)

How's this week been I hear you ask?  Well, not too bad.  Other than having eternally frizzy hair it's been ok :)

My week has been filled with being very busy at work, eating lots of vegetables, and cuddling my cat :)  She's taken to sleeping on my chest while I'm trying to go to sleep, it's really very cute, I get to be purred to sleep, there's really no sound quite like it ;)  Luckily at the moment there aren't many makeup releases that I'm eager for, the only purchase I foresee me needing to make in the next couple/few weeks is my Chanel liquid eyeliner as I think that's getting close to the end.  If it goes during October, I have others I can use, but none are as good...

I did use a facemask this weekend too, it's the one that came in this months She Said beauty box, it was the Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal.  The sample in the box was tiny, just enough for 1 use, which is a shame.  It did smell nice, and was exfoliating, but you can't really gain an opinion of something from just using it once...

One thing I've found really hard not to buy this week is magazines with freebies, I'm missing out on all the free benefit tints!  Gutted... like, really gutted... but a no-buy is a no-buy and lets face it, it's not like I need any more makeup :p  Would have just liked to try the different ones out yanno?

Anyway, wish me luck for week 3 <3
